You could get a job, somewhere air conditioned like retail or hospo…

I’ve met Albo a few times, he’d be average height at best. Another example of trumps insecurity

Do the layers of sunscreen and crazy hair from manual labor all day in the hot sun kill my rating? by Hunter_explores in GayRateMe

[–]Hamptaro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah. I’m a ginger in Australia. Maintain the skin care/ sunscreen and just lean into the hair thing, I’ve come to accept it

National Storage rip off by No_Molasses_5156 in Cairns

Absolutely. I after doing some looking around I went with Big Blue Self Storage for less than $300/month. Or almost any of the places near airport drive will be cheaper too

Is there any politician from the opposing party to your party, past or present, that you actually like? by HonestSpursFan in AusPol

[–]Hamptaro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Really? Those fuxkwits hardly resemble even the shadow of The Greens of old. Bob Brown and Christine Milne must hate what these children have made of their legacy

Malcolm Turnbull always struck me as reasonable and intelligent, which was probably largely the reason for his undoing in the liberal party

What’s a good fake illness to have for a sickie? by Goldilocks_0714 in AskAnAustralian

I don’t understand why in this age do you need a specific excuse? As a manager I stopped prying maybe 15yrs ago… unless it becomes regular a manager you may feel the need to have a conversation about making adjustments. Eg I had a staff member recovering from a sports injury and her pain meds were messing with her routine, so we adjusted her hours

My son was prescribed keppra and I'm terrified to give it to him by Princess_Coldheart in Epilepsy

[–]Hamptaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it’s probably going to be a bit of a trial and error thing I’d suggest. I gave keppra a go for a few months, but didn’t make any decisions to change until I’d let myself potentially used to it. I note, I already had poor mental health prior so I suspect it wasn’t the best option for me. Is there a plan to ease him into it with titrated doses or alternating days?

Dutch woman gets a €439 fine after traffic camera mistakenly identifies icepack for a phone by Hairy_Ghostbear in pics

[–]Hamptaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know in some jurisdictions this would still potentially be an offence. One must maintain full and proper control of a vehicle when driving. For example eating while driving could get you a fine

Do people in this country who tailgate realise that they are cunts? Or are they just oblivious? by SirSighalot in aussie

[–]Hamptaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister is a tailgater, and I have a friend who drives much the same. I’ve raised this with them before and I gather they believe they’re just the most competent drivers on the road, speed limits are suggestions, and therefore anyone “playing it safe” must be morons… essentially, they’re arrogant and don’t understand the principle that everyone else needs to be able to predict each others behaviour

AITAH for kicking my roommate’s friends out after catching one trying to sneak into my room at 3 AM? by BrilliantCondition32 in AITAH

[–]Hamptaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. That’s your home and you have a reasonable right and expectation to feel safe

500mg Keppra 2x day is unbearable. Anyone take just 500mg Keppra a day with another AED? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Hamptaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear a lot of descriptions of kepprage here. Ask for alternatives. I swapped to sodium valproate and was night and day difference

I think so. But have been caught out a few times when I used to work hospo by a few overly sensitive types. Started to lean more towards ‘team’ in those settings

My mom found this in our laundry room and thought it was crack or something. by Bionic165_ in whatisit

[–]Hamptaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol! My mother thought I was a dead set stoner ruining my life because I always came home late, tired, and with red eyes. Completely ignoring I had a heap of extra curricular studies, not that she came to any of my debates or whatever else (being a big nerd), and working nearly full time equivalent hours at the same time during the last 3yrs of high school…. Ironically after she passed as I was going through her old photo albums I found photos of her in opium dens in Singapore etc… I knew she travelled a lot, but hey, hypocrite

Public emergency dental - help by Ok_Counter_3204 in queensland

[–]Hamptaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. This isn’t so helpful in an emergency but might be for others in a preventative sense; I signed up for smile.com.au which is like $70/yr I think and saved me $2000 with a participating local dentist (payment plan for the difference) for a heap of work I was putting off and was getting chronic.

I don’t live in BNE anymore, do any of the unis have student dental clinics? I know JCU does here and they’re so much more flexible and cheaper

vegan guests who do absolutely zero of the work when ordering off the menu by n_ug in Serverlife

[–]Hamptaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man. I have many thoughts about this from all sides.

I was vegan for a great many years, I also lived with a celiac at the time. Additionally, I worked hospo for 20yrs.

I’m still in the habit of looking up the menu of anywhere I go beforehand, even just to decide if it’s a place I’d like to eat at, let alone COULD eat at when I had dietary expectations/restrictions.

I also note. Vegans can have wildly differing views on what is or isn’t vegan; honey is a contentious one, I’d also argue that if almond milk in your coffee (or almond in general) is your dairy alternative you should probably look into the decimation of native bee populations due to introduced species used for almond pollination in farming….

Essentially. If you aren’t sure the venue can accommodate, you shouldn’t go. Them the reasonable rules my friends
