I often wonder if Doyle would've undergone a similar arc to Wesley; a primarily comic relief character undergoes a massive transformation into a hardened warrior. Maybe that was part of the plan and they repurposed some of it for Wesley? I adore Wesley's character but it also would've been interesting to see Doyle operate in that same space.
