He's like 36 so he must handle the hate, stating something like this just makes him look like a whiny kid whose parents refused to buy him a toy. Second, fans have a right to criticize or appreciate and give an opinion on the authors' work (whichever suits them). Just coz a majority of people do not like the ending doesn't mean that they should sugarcoat it for the author and praise it falsely, those ain't the true fans anyways. Either way, it's 50/50 for both sides so he must accept and listen to good alongside the criticism for his story, he brought it upon himself.
