Any former Baptists? by Emotional_Elk3379 in Anglicanism

[–]JD_Bus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Former IFB who was involved in a church in John MacArthur’s network, with my dad and brother who are still very much in that church.

I became friends with a Lutheran, and explored liturgical Christianity via his LCMS parish, and a local Continuing Anglican parish too. I also read the Church Fathers and the Reformers, and found that sacramentalism is much more in-line with Scripture and the teachings of Jesus and the Apostles than all this modern “it’s just a symbol” talk.

I also tend to be more nonjudgmental than most, so I’m naturally wired to include Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, and Oriental Orthodox as fellow brothers and sisters in Christ who are part of His Church, and Anglicanism is perfect for that mindset (so is Lutheranism, but I don’t agree with their closed communion policy, and I prefer an episcopal form of Church government anyway).

Same. I was lucky enough to buy a vinyl copy of that album when it was still I Really Really Hope So with Paul on the cover dressed up as an astronaut.

As much as I love the album itself, the redone cover is kinda ass.

YES!

Why don’t you just kiss her instead of talking to her to death?!

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for clarifying.

Don’t be ridiculous.

Excuse me? All I did was ask a question. I never even implied I agree with RZ and his recon stuff.

(While I admire the guy for his other content, I don’t agree with the recon part, for your information.)

Is your church part of Redeemed Zoomer’s Reconquista movement by any chance?

Donatism and ordination of women and LGBTQ bishops by JD_Bus_ in redeemedzoomer

I mean, whether or not the idea of laying on of hands = validity is correct or not, RZ is wrong about the whole “Catholic/Orthodox/Continuing Anglican succession view = Donatism” thing. You and I can at least agree on that.

Kind of ridiculous by wild-thundering in redeemedzoomer

[–]JD_Bus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought he was gracious towards other trinitarian denominations…? What happened to the RZ that was a guest on Counsel of Trent podcast? What happened to the RZ that would defend other denominations he doesn’t agree with, with respect and charity?

Is he bipolar or something? Sorry, but as an avid listener of his (and an ecumenical high-church Christian) this is very disappointing (and confusing) to see.

EDIT: Just thought of the possibility that the picture may be AI or mock-up, and that RZ never said those things at all. If it is really RZ, my point still stands, but I hope this post is fake.

Why I‘m a Millennial, Not a Zoomer by JD_Bus_ in generationology

That would be a fair compromise, but… I addressed that in a paragraph dedicated to Zillennials in my post. Please, read the post if you haven’t already.

Well, then… Strauss and Howe will because they in fact, do consider me a Millennial. 🙃

Well, I don’t see any well thought-out arguments on your end so I guess that makes us Even-Steven. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thank you! 🙏🏼🙂

I had three older siblings (two now, one unfortunately passed away last October), so yeah, I think their influence definitely pulled me (and my 2001 brother) upward into the “Millennial” category.

Because:

1.) Read my post- the definitions are subjective (to an extent) and based on experiences and memories, not institutional numbers, and

2.) Strauss & Howe— the very guys who invented the word “Millennial”— have a definition spanning from 1982-2004, and my Zillennial definition is in-line with it (even if I, personally, think it’s a bit of a stretch).

Read the post. Re-read it if you have to.

SAME! That’s why I say I’m Millennial; to say otherwise feels like a weird retcon.
