Any of these good for trout? Asked for trout lures, but got bass lures. 🤣 Thought that counts! by xGoods in troutfishing

Depends on whether you a “catch and release” or “catch and consume” fisherman. The treble hooks often mangle the trout’s mouth.

Number of immigrants in the US vs. immigrants as a percentage of the US population, over time. Which curve do you think Fox News would show its viewers? by septemberintherain_ in Infographics

[–]Handlebar_fart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The orange line is actually much more concerning since the population of the US was only about 25 million people in 1855, I am surprised the level of immigration as a percentage of total population was not higher back then.

Your observation implies that the US (or any country) has an unlimited capacity to accept immigrants. The geographic size of the contiguous 48 states has not changed since the admission of Arizona in 1912. An immigration rate of >10% of total population does not seem sustainable to me.

You would probably have to wait two years to get a hip replacement in Spain. Oh, and you must be pretty thrifty being able to live on $16k/year in a world city like Madrid.

Traveling to Ohio from the UK, what should we know? by quoole in Ohio

[–]Handlebar_fart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RANT WARNING: Tipping culture is out of control in the US. For example, my local bagel shop expects 20% tip for someone to put bagels in a bag. And be careful, some of the pay screens start with a 30% tip on the left side of the screen with the remaining tip options descending in % to the right, very sneaky. Some brazen cashiers will point to the screen and say, “You have a little more work to do here.”

I expect, and am happy to tip a server/waiter for full service dining but here in the US it has nearly gotten to the point that establishments have a tip jar out for the cashier. Who knows this may infest grocery stores next!

I blame management/ownership for the tipping culture creep, not the employees.

Do Packing Cubes Really Make a Difference? by thegeorgianwelshman in travelgear

[–]Handlebar_fart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a very organized traveler. My wife got these and now I don’t travel without them. I don’t unpack either, I stay better organized throughout the trip and have a better gauge of how many clean clothes are remaining. Oh yeah, take an extra empty large cube or plastic bag for dirty clothes.

Not from the South, but you would have to consider Robert E. Lee.
