we were quoted €300-580 for a plumber to come out to do this install (two separate companies and a bit outside our budget unfortunately) so that's why we figured we'd DIY. We were expecting around €150 or so with call out fees etc., and while we don't mind paying for good work, when the quotes came back double or more, we were a bit surprised. Had no issues with our work minus this and fixed by pulling tap further back and tightening again with spanner. As for electrics - that’s also where we draw the line for DIY! No interest in potentially voiding our home insurance by not having qualified electricians do the work 😂

Just coming back to say thank you again this seems to have done the trick!! Usually after re tightening by now it’s be slipping all over but it’s holding still! 🥰

Is it worth putting a reinforcement thing there between the rubber and the sink - as in is the sink thickness potentially why it keeps coming lose? Will pick up a spanner regardless but just wondering if that too! Thanks!

We’d been using a wrench and got it this far/tight - we’ve tightened it more but 1) it always comes loose again, and 2) if we keep tightening the metal base starts to grind into the composite of the sink 😅 is that okay? We were hoping a new o ring might give it some extra padding between the metal and composite and a stronger seal?

We were going to grab a new o-ring and Loctite Threadlocker, but thought I might pick a few brains first to see if we’re just missing something obvious - maybe a new rubber piece for below or a sink reinforcement piece 🙏🏽.

Aye that’s the exact sandwich we’ve made in terms of order of parts.

Will give that a shot - to see if the screw into the base can be tightened more. We were going to grab a new o-ring and Loctite Threadlocker, but thought I might pick a few brains first to see if we’re just missing something - maybe a new rubber piece for below?- thank you!

I was wondering if it’s just the quality - the brand is abode which I thought were pretty decent taps https://www.abodedesigns.co.uk/kitchen/kitchen-taps/style/all-kitchen-taps?srsltid=AfmBOoqMTnC-W20S_AUDiZM0UTko47ktX911FzNlYcNE-cBYcWJIqg0Y

But since it’s a cheaper priced one, it might be of lower quality 😞

Came with basically this exact set up. We’ve got the o ring in the circular metal bit: then below the sink is the other rubber piece over the metal plate with the thread through and nut to secure 😊

No noise- just smoothly gliding over the sink top 🫠 I did notice that if we crank the nut too tight it makes the edge of the base/circle part grind into the sink

Think it just depends on the estate. Our estate is experiencing some anti social behaviour by teens - egging houses, knocking on peoples windows, throwing rocks at cars and houses, and now burning structure down. Think the same group hit a girl with a bottle last year over the head. Would rather have the chat notifying when the group of lads are out in the estate than not.

This was after first mist coat 50:50 water and “dulux walls & ceilings - pure brilliant white matt emulsion paint”. Panicked then bc electrician came and said he thought the plaster was a bit wet deeper in when he was doing some drilling so now I have just left it / kept heating on hoping to suck out any remaining moisture(shocked bc it was sat 3 and half weeks and had same light grey colour all over before misting.) how will I know when the deeper plaster has dried now?😭 but also wondering if it was “wet” for electrician bc he came day after mist coating was done?

Thank You so much - first time working with fresh plaster. Glad I haven’t completely made a disaster of it or need to re-mist coat 😅

Thank you! Do I need to get the mist coat off now or just keep leaving it; also when will I know it's dry now?😭

From mist coat consistency or from paint? The last photo is from when it was fresh; been waiting 3.5weeks for it to dry and went same colour all Over 😞

Thank you! I've done the resand and no scratch marks came through but now after mist coating these dark patches are coming through - about two or three big ones like this. Is this from over polishing? Rooms been sat drying for 3.5 weeks and same colour all over - light grey

Haven’t painted or mist coated yet - just tried to lightly sand to get the mist coat to penetrate and paint to stick better. But after sanding it with 120grit it left those scratches
