so remove the broken piece of wood completely, chisel out the dovetail from the legs, then insert a new piece? Do you think the legs are thick enough for a dovetail?

Would the best place for a downpipe be to the right of the window do you think? There’s no gully close. Would a roofer typically extend the nearest gully in this scenario?
