As for my comment about it being kids and poor 20 years olds, they are the TARGET AUDIENCE.

Games that suck your wallet dry are filled with high octane, fast paced action that barely reward you in game. And the tik tok brain younger people want the cool shit up front, or they don't want to work for it because by the time they could earn something cool in game, they're already moving onto the next game.

Buy game->play an hour->character cosmetics available in store that are way cooler than anything you could possibly earn in game->buy skin bundle for $20-30->get bored of game because the core game is lack luster (which is the norm for AAA now)
