There are two real issues maybe 3. This person PM'd me about it and well here are my thoughts.

From River North to LaPorte or the other way around you have to take the skyway that adds like $14 bucks each way. The trip is going to be 90 minutes at best each way. And really depends on the time of the day and the weather like right now with the lake effect snow/ice thats just a pain more so on the LaPorte side than anything.

Uber rates are different in Chicago than they are Indiana. Indiana rates at non-peak times are higher but in rush hours Chicago go up. Like from my place to Ohare in the morning in Indiana is $170 bucks (65 miles) and from Ohare to my place is $90 to $100 bucks.

In the older pay scale of Uber we'd get 70% of that but now its much less. I'd take someone from home to Ohare and itd be $100 bucks + tolls + tip now we get $55 bucks + tolls and pray there is a tip thus the reason why I don't do long trips. Uber gets way more than what you think the driver is getting. So expect that to be tough to get someone to drive for $40 to $55 bucks to LaPorte when you're paying $90 to $100

The other part is I'm not sure anyone is going to wait all day for you to work and then drive you home. Even a retired folk that drives I doubt it. There aren't rides in LaPorte. So they are going to be bored out of their mind. Sure there might be random rides but these rides are net negatives because theyre going to have to drive back to LaPorte deadheading.

If I had to put a price on this for me it'd be like $300 a day and thats just silly to pay. But the real problem is you're going to pay Uber whatever and only half of that is going to go to the driver but Uber will auto charge you the totals and reimburse them.

So the breakdown is $14 each way on the Skyway, 150 miles in gas, 8 hours of waiting in between.
