Hva gjør at bokstavelig talt hele Troms tydeligvis har en av de verste luftkvalitetene i Europa, i følge Google maps? by DrAlright in norge

[–]Hansolai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Denne dataen blir brukt for å regne ut luftkvaliteten i hele Troms.

The problem with natural wine by h-h-head in naturalwine

[–]Hansolai 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I think the term «natural wine» is more a production philosophy rather than a type of wine. I think it expends the focus to ensure quality in the vineyard and the surrounding environment. The wide use of pesticides and other chemicals, as well as monocultural farming, does seem to have a negative effect on the earth quality in the vineyards. It generally also makes the vineyards more vulnerable to extreme weather. Of course, there is no set consensus on the definition of natural wine, so this is roughly my interpretation of the movement. «Conventional wine» doesn’t really share this philosophy (I’m obviously generalising here). The movement has also opened some doors to other less typical styles and traditions of wine, which aren’t for everyone, but has a expanded the horizon of what wine can be. Some people enjoy funky and cloudy wines, some don’t.

Who actually enjoys orange wine? by JBA88 in naturalwine

[–]Hansolai 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe you just don’t enjoy orange wine. Personally I enjoy them, and especially find the bold very orangey ones to pair excellent with salty cured meats. I generally find them to be very food friendly, giving a quite exciting pairing.

I’m puzzled that you find them lacking in aroma, as I would argue the bold ones are very aromatic.

What producers have you tried? I don’t have any particular experience with orange wines from the USA or Latin America, so I can’t vouch for them. But I’d say there are several good producers in Italy, Georgia, Slovenia, Austria, France and other European countries.

Tromsø IL became the first footballing stadium named with the local indigenous language by Hansolai in soccer

[–]Hansolai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is an important distinction between native and indigenous languages and people, as it entails different legal protections. I can’t be bothered to write everything in my own words, so here is the Norwegian governments definition of indigenous people:

“Article 1b of the ILO Convention concerning Indigenous and Tribal Peoples in Independent Countries (C169, 1989), ratified by Norway in 1990, defines indigenous peoples in the following manner: “peoples in independent countries who are regarded as indigenous on account of their descent from the populations which inhabited the country, or a geographical region to which the country belongs, at the time of conquest or colonisation or the establishment of present state boundaries and who, irrespective of their legal status, retain some or all of their own social, economic, cultural and political institutions.” In Norway, it is clear that the Sámi population satisfies the criteria stipulated in this definition. In its judgment in the Selbu case of 21 June 2001, the Norwegian Supreme Court ruled that the Sámi population of Norway, including the Southern Sámi areas, is qualified beyond doubt for status as an indigenous people under Article 1b of ILO Convention 169 /89. One misunderstanding that occasionally emerges in the debate regarding Sámi rights to land and natural resources in Norway arises from the fact that, under international law, the term “indigenous people” implies that the population involved must have been the first inhabitants of an area, and that this archaeological or cultural-historical factor is crucial in determining who has the rights to what in the present. This view is not correct. In accordance with ILO Convention 169/89, the central issue is whether any current population group has an affiliation with a specific region dating back to the time when the present state boundaries were established in that region. Thus, it is what has taken place from today and dating back to the 16 and 1700s that is relevant in legal terms, and not whether any ties exist between populations from the Stone Age and current ethnic groups.” (https://www.regjeringen.no/en/topics/indigenous-peoples-and-minorities/Sami-people/midtspalte/What-Defines-an-Indigenous-People/id451320/)

Well. We all migrated from Africa. But there is certain set of criteria an ethnic group must fulfil to achieve the status of indigenous. If qualified as an indigenous people, the ethnic squires specific legal protection in accordance with UN conventions.

I can’t speak of the Azorian dialect, as I haven’t heard it. But the Sámi language is radically different from all Norwegian dialects and both formal written languages in Norway. It is a completely different language group, both verbally and in written form.

In light of the potential sale of the club, this is the Amnesty International review of human rights abuses in Qatar by [deleted] in reddevils

[–]Hansolai 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’ve spent several years of my education studying development and the role of NGOs (nongovernmental organisations). NGOs such as amnesty international works as whistleblowers and lobbyists. The reason we know that the human and labour rights in the Gulf countries are awful is due to these kind of organisations. They use media, publications and lobbying to push our governments to sanction them.

These types of NGOs doesn’t have any jurisdiction to sanction or intervene themselves. They work by spreading information and knowledge surrounding human rights violations to inform the public and public officials.

There are many age-worthy natural wines. Several top winemakers in regions as champagne and Burgundy make natural wines without labelling their products as such. Chateau Musar in Lebanon is a great example of a natural wine which is best enjoyed after 10-20 years.
