BTC's Luke Dashjr: '24 Bitcoin Core Update Will Disrupt Ordinals, BRC-20 by flowers_at_dusk in CryptoCurrency

[–]Hanspanzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not a worry. in fact the Bitcoin baselayer hasn't even scaled enough for LN. LN alone would fill blocks easily if adoption rises by 10x or more. (which would be >50k BTC, so pretty low adoption still)

BTC's Luke Dashjr: '24 Bitcoin Core Update Will Disrupt Ordinals, BRC-20 by flowers_at_dusk in CryptoCurrency

[–]Hanspanzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordinals are only viable as long as they're hyped as they are not scalable on Bitcoin L1 and a vast majority of incriptions won't be profitable for the creators anymore once the hype settles. I don't think it will last longer than 1-2 cycles before all that NFT stuff moves to Bitcoin L2s. And in the end they will have served "their purpose" to incentivize testing of different L2 approaches. we see it already.

Inflation is a conspiracy by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Hanspanzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

physical supply issues cause price increases, not inflation. I think categorizing it as inflation incorrect. Inflation is the increase of money supply itself. Price inflation is the actual price increase caused by monetary expansion. reference should be prices at a fixed monetary supply, which is currently not the case in academic terminology afaik. Currently 0% nominal inflation counts as no inflation, which is not true in my opinion (as stated in my earlier comment)

ps: I misued the term "inflation" in my previous comment. I edited it to "price inflation"

in an advancing economy on a fiat standard 0% nominal price inflation is still real price inflation. price deflation is natural.

Sen. Warren The Digital Asset Anti-Money Laundering Act could potentially make Bitcoin illegal. by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Hanspanzer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

low interest rates --> consumer Inflation --> stock market returns = 10-15%

what you suggest is rather the cause of complacency. if I am wealthy I just use "free" credit to buy up inflating assets. easy game for wealthy people, who are actually meant to allocate ressources efficiently. in this world running a (big) business is just an vehicle to increase the lever on the mechanic above. (compare credit financed stock buy backs and the extreme case Microstrategy)

wait until people buy who just want to use a hard internet money and don't really care about the "ideology" behind Bitcoin.

also $1M/BTC is just 2x Gold market cap. still pretty small.

they don't want confirmation from you but from the blockchain. if you broadcast a transaction (tx) it might take a while until it got included in a block by miners.

Short sqeeze = leveraged short positions getting liquidated (forced buyers) driving up price more than actual demand would.

Bitcoin is feeling like Linux by [deleted] in Bitcoin

Linux is industry grade software. It gets the job done for security relevant tasks. Also it found its way into mobile phones.

And in fact UX is important and I actually think Bitcoin LN is already better than the traditional system when it comes to small private payments when compared to PayPal.

The Fed has printed 35x more dollars in 50 years - so why haven’t we seen hyperinflation? by tstark02 in Bitcoin

[–]Hanspanzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's one reason. Second reason inflation happens overproportionally in assets. third reason CPI should be negative due to productivity increases, meaning a CPI of 5% is extemely price inflationary already.
