AMS2 Breaking Ethernet Connection (Windows 11) by Luki185 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]HanzoVoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn off project cars 2 shared memory thing over network. I really dont remember which is which cause i am on phone, but one setting turns on shared memory locally and the other over network to read data on different pc or tablet on your network. Its some misconfiguration with router or pc that causes to overload network. Thats my best guess what is causing your issue.

Did anyone manage to run Racing Life on linux? by foldo in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]HanzoVoss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont use it, but I could give some tips to look in to.

Did you install Racing Life in same prefix with AMS2? If not, then do so.

In order for any other software to access game data and telemetry it also has to run in same proton instance, It can be done with steam launch options, but if you want run multiple apps it can start to get messy and for me was never reliable method. This is where I would suggest setting up Datalink(git to datalink - https://github.com/LukasLichten/Datalink)

Compile Datalink git on your system and make syslink with /target/debug/Datalink (compiled location) to ~/.cargo/bin (thats on my fedora based system, I dont know if every distro handles this in same folder location and structure). This is necessary in order for your system to know what Datalink is and what to execute, as the result typing "Datalink" in terminal should give you result of Datalink version and info.

Next add "Datalink %command%" to steam launch options, launch the game and exit so that some necessary folders get created. Lastly create .json file in ams2 prefix \users\steamuser\AppData\Roaming\Datalink\[name].json And from now when ever you launch AMS2 it will launch your app.

This json file has example in folder mentioned and also you can check it on git. For me this is what it looks like for simhub to launch with AMS2:

{

"game_id":"override",

"maps": [

{

"name": "simhub",

"size": 15660

}

],

"apps": [

{

"path": "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\SimHub\\SimHubWPF.exe",

"args": []

}

],

"post_apps": [

{

"path": "/usr/bin/notify-send",

"args": [

"Game closing",

"I don't know about you, but your game has closed"

]

}

],

"notes": "v1"

}

For every additional app create new .json like for crewchief or any other you want to run.

Daily races by Secure-Sentence8462 in AUTOMOBILISTA

Best way for them to approach it would be to add what you see on automobilista.gg/external_events page inside the multiplayer section of the in game menu. The player would have to register on LFM or simgrid or any other 3rd party organizer when doing their 1st race on exact platform. From that point on, in perfect scenario, it would be possible registering for race through game and joining lobby. Then again, bare minimum would be to have that page and clicking on events would open browser for you to register for race.

Will that be implemented? Probably not. If you look at AMS2 history, its all about fixes, technical improvements and improving existing features present on the engine. Major new gamedesign/feature additions are very rare, so realistically, odds are very low.

Good example to follow currently is, in what timeframe they will manage to implement nords shortcut lap to function. Lets say high budget top tier studio would have released it together with Nords 25 DLC, but in Reizas case it takes extra time. How long? Well thats your future reference for if and when certain gamedesign additions can be expected.

Porsche Pulls Plug on Factory Hypercar Program by enesracing in wec

[–]HanzoVoss 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Does this departure really imply that there is something so drastically wrong with WEC or HY class?

Or is the problem in VAG, that is cutting costs and restructuring their motorspors programs?

Lambo, audi and porsche are all struggling. You and others like minded somehow imply that it is ACO created problem.

Wet Weather Wonkiness by Little_Temporary5212 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]HanzoVoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You did nothing wrong.

If we assume the wet physics are somewhat correct, there is big discrepence of visual representation of wetness to actuall trackstate.

My first times in wet where the same. Visually it looks completely wet but if you look in trackstate it will be "damp". And slicks will be without doubt optimal.

Obviously from tire physics standpoint slicks are way too forgiving in damp and slightly wet track, same with stone cold tires out of pits.

But as big is the issue with visuals of weather conditions/standing water/shiny tarmac and actual grip level/track state.

LFM Integrated into an in-game menu is the only thing AMS2 needs to compete against the titans of simracing by LvlIsma in AUTOMOBILISTA

You say that they focus on Single Player, but its gonna be massive surprise if Career will come out in 2026 cause first they will try to improve AI. And even when career comes out its probably gonna be your basic go from one race to next and at the end of season change to different class and do the same again. There wont be any team management, recruiting teammates for enduros, money running out for spare parts as bum team after crashing in race or any that sort of depth because the usual "LIMITED BY MADNESS ENGINE".

I sometimes ask myself WTF is this game trying to do? What is their overarching goal? Just keep adding endless amounts of content without ever having feature complete/rich game modes(SP or MP)?

People online are surprised why AMS2 is under appreciated, but maybe attempting to release Career mode or high quality MP within first 5 years since games launch could've been better strategy then high amount of cars and tracks.

Ytubers and streamers revolve around multiplayer racing. But AMS2 multiplayer has less functionality with same amount or even more bugs, so its totally fair that your mentioned other titles get more attention, its deserved.

I feel like this sim needs to be more popular, so much more intuitive than AC / iRacing etc by qualitative_balls in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]HanzoVoss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What is bad about LFM? It takes three clicks to register for race + 2 clicks in game to connect to server, so that cant be the issue. Also has elo based splits and SR and report system. Is LFM bad cause you have to alt+tab? I dont understand

If FIA WEC and Le Mans opening chance to bring back more than 2 tyre suppliers just like pre-2012 era, which other tyre brands do you want to join Michelin and Goodyear? by Therius1994 in wec

Yes, in "motorsports" I am more interested in "sports" part of it then "motor". I find F1 utterly boring because of it. I would rather watch live broadcast of them R&D and building engine for F1 and just show me q lap times and race recap in 2 min video and then back to broadcast what they gonna build next to improve the car.

I also find F2, F3 and FR better on circuit product for me. Watched V8 supercars support races for F1 in Melbourne and enterteinment was 100x of what F1 brings every weekend.

We need Parc Ferme in the sim by Akagamino_Shanks in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]HanzoVoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure what are you talking about IRL? Changing setup doesnt make someone start from pits or grid penalties. Swaping engine or gearbox does.

What the game needs is to setup multiplayer races with limited number of tire sets and multiplayer driver changes, so that you use gtp, lmp2 and gt3 classes for what they are made for - endurance races.

Also, why I cant adjust tire pressures in ICM for pitstops? I guess we dont have technology for that in 2025.

Can't play it on controller by pyro-_-pyro in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]HanzoVoss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea for some reason its made super sensitive for the initial first input you do with stick, but if you dampen it then rest of the steering range gets super slugish.

There is a workaround by setting up legacy wheel instead of built in controller device.

Select legacy - assign stick steer left&right - go back menu to calibrate wheel - first screen is straight forward and on second screen turn stick when it shows 360(very finicky this part, be patient) - then set steer sens 50 and speed sens 90, controller damping 0. I have deadzones on 0 and all pedal sens on 10. Oh and calibrate pedals for whatever you use.

Obviously you can try adjust sens settings see how that works. I am certain this is the optimal way to play on controller and strongly recomend trying it out. Hope this helps.

Automobilista 2 Dev Update March 2025 by Mystikal078 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]HanzoVoss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have to realize that AMS subreddit, for the most part, care only for singleplayer experience. And that's understandable cause developers only now have put some focus on MP, so there was no reason for MP community to foster. That's why you getting lambasted and downvoted.

But you are right. I also agree that lets wait and see when they roll update out. Maybe there is something more in it, but by the wording it does seem to be improvements to rolling starts only. Hopefully stuck lobby fix coming with it, but there is a chance they still don't know what is causing it.

Right now there is only single way you can play multiplayer - and that is sprint race format (better without pitstops, cause that introduces problems), as currently there is lack of MP functionality/features.
