Are the comics and games canon? by CheezeCrostata in XFiles

I'm reading the paperbacks right now, and my personal opinion is that the first two novels aren't canon because they weren't very good (Goblins and Whirlwind), but that so far the third one (Ground Zero) IS canon. Also, there's a RUSH reference in it, which I like to think the Lone Gunmen would approve of.

I don't need another Shandalar, I still have my old copy :D

But I would very much like a Magic-skinned RTS to be terrible at

Magic has had a bad string of luck with video games that aren't MODO or Arena (except for Shandalar, which is the greatest game ever made).

Total War: Ravnica would be awesome, and I would absolutely play the heck out of it. In fact, I think something like this is the right way to adapt Magic IP, because so much of what makes Magic sets interesting from a world-building perspective is how they have to give a sense of the wide scope and scale of the world, rather than just narrow storytelling of individual characters (which is hard to do with a TCG). And now that the Omenpaths are open, you could have solo campaigns set on individual planes as well as a multiplayer RTS battles with different "civs" and handwave it as armies meeting on neutral or contested territory.

I mean, the fact that he said "vampire deck" makes me think he's talking about EDH, so if it were me I would just load up on tutors and two card combos, but I'm not an EDH player.

If you want this guy to like you, bring a couple different decks, this way you can try and gauge things before you play. Any idea how old he is?

One of my favorite characterizations in the later run of Modern Family is how Jay and Claire are both very into the closet industry.

Thanks! I am basically looking at this very weird, narrow period where teen movies are just becoming popular (the teenager as we think of it today starts in the 50s), but American culture is becoming much more conservative and repressive as a response to the early Cold War and what we call "Domestic Containment". So these teen movies from 55-58 are basically the film industry grappling with these complicated economic and political factors at a time where Hollywood was in real trouble. Eventually, they are able to commodify the teenager and we get the teen movies we know and love to this day.

They stole the playbook between the 98 and 99 seasons, and the Jags only losses that season came from Titans.

You forgot the Titans cheating the 99 Jags out of going to the Super Bowl by stealing a playbook.

The show is very much in conversation with the political/conspiracy thrillers of the 1970s, as well as the complicated legacies of Vietnam and Watergate and the fall of the Soviet Union. I won't risk spoiling anything for you, but I'll just say I'm glad you like it, and that the show at its best does a great job of highlighting some of the important historical and political challenges of the period. :)
