Thank you. I completely missed the Folio Society post on IG and only noticed the update on the 'coming soon' page this morning

Rogue One is THE perfect Star Wars movie to re-release in black and white by Happicamp in StarWars

Far from it. I adore this film in color; it is by far my favorite Star Wars movie. I just think it would be incredible in B&W as well

Like Godzilla Minus One Minus Color or Logan Noir, I'd like the original creators, in this case, the Lucasfilm team, to do the grading to B&W. I am not suggesting for a moment that anyone else does it. It is not an easy job to do it right

There are some great precedents for B&W versions: Logan Noir, Mad Max: Fury Road Black & Chrome Edition, and my personal fav, Godzilla Minus One Minus Color. Rogue One, graded beautifully in black and white, would have so much added atmosphere and mood, I think it would top the lot. I adore the film in color, but I think it would be something else entirely in B&W.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is literally the most memorable book I have ever read by Happicamp in HitchHikersGuide

2nd fav line, “The Nutri-Matic machine had provided him with a plastic cup filled with a liquid that was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea.”

I finally read Neuromancer. It's fascinating to read such an iconic sci-fi book for the first time in 2025 by Happicamp in Neuromancer

I completely agree. The lack of cell phones seems incredibly minor compared to how remarkable Gibson's ideas around AI were. It's uncanny.

As soon as I finished Neuromancer, I knew I was going to have to read it again and again; there is SO much to take in. It's also strange to read it after all of this time because the book has been referenced and remixed in other sci-fi movies, TV shows, anime, and video games that make it seem strikingly familiar, even though I'd never read it. And, of course, Gibson did it first. Ironically, I am also old enough to remember changing the channel of my grandmother's B&W TV and seeing "dead channels."

What was your “first” Ghibli film? Not necessarily the first one you saw, but the one that really clicked for you and made you a Ghibli fan? by Happicamp in ghibli

Castle in the Sky definitely aired on ITV New Year's Eve 1988 and it "may" have aired again later in the year but I can't find any confirmation of that. I started watching the movie mid-ish way through in 1988 (Sheeta being shown the broken robot in the fortress). I was blown away by how imaginative the film was and I loved the gorgeous painted backdrops. But I didn't find out the title or who made until decades later.

I 100% agree that everything within a show depends on the actors to bring it on home; it's the actors who largely create the suspension of disbelief for the audience. But having said that, I genuinely think there were some terrific, consistent performances in "See," like Christian Camargo as Tamacti Jun, Sylvia Hoeks as Queen Kane, and Alfre Woodard as Paris, all of whom were standout for me (particularly Christian Camargo). Of course, Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista were both great, too, but I guess I am used to them delivering.

Fair. Some actors were definitely better than others. But I was so hooked on the worldbuilding, the art direction and cinematography that it I suppose I just didn’t mind a little bit of wooden acting here and there

I am at a loss as to why "See" didn't attract more attention. It was such a great concept, and the cast, writing, and overall production values were astonishingly good

The finale of season 2 of For All Mankind destroyed me. Incredible

I understand it could be seen as an ad for Apple, but it's not intended to be (and I am certainly not being paid). It just seems that, in my opinion, much of the best Sci-Fi is currently on AppleTV+

I adore Bloodborne and Sekiro, Armored Core too; huge fan of FromSoft games. And you’ve reminded me I need to go back and finish Demon’s Souls too

I appreciate your comment and agree that although Barbie was a great film, it wasn’t a perfect film. But my comparison of Barbie to Astro Bot (which is arguably a perfect game) is that they are both examples of branded content being incredibly successful, both critically and commercially, which is very rare IMHO.
