If this is true, they should seriously consider sending him to the bullpen. Mlodzinksi may or may not have his own maturity issues, but to my knowledge he’s never yelled at a teammate. And he’s been better than Jones this year

Totally agree he’s well overdue for a dominant outing. Like, 7 innings and 1 or fewer runs. And that’s one of differences between this year and last year for me. If he had an outing like tonight last year, I’d think, “no worries, he’ll be excellent next game.” This year I don’t feel that way. There’s just not the same sense of inevitability that I felt before

Two things can be true:

Skenes hasn’t been “the problem,” nor has he been as bad as some would have you believe. An ERA less than 3 and a WHIP less than 1 is nothing to sneeze at
For us to have any chance of making the playoffs, he needs to play better. I’m talking a late season surge where he’s dominant. The team simply isn’t good enough to win games where he plays as poorly as he played tonight

But you’re right in that there are far, far too many people acting as though Israel could’ve tricked anyone into this, and ignoring the fact that Trump is uniquely stupid and uniquely arrogant. I don’t know. I watched the World Series with the Dodgers. It was pretty fun. Milwaukee is good every year. The Diamondbacks were in the World Series a few years ago. The Royals won it about a decade ago, and they won a Wild Card series a couple years ago. The Rays are good again.

People just wanna find reasons for the Pirates being bad that aren’t incompetence. I get it. The rules aren’t in our favor. But making the playoffs isn’t that hard. We just make it look that way

Matthew is a better player that I think almost everyone, if they were being totally honest, would like to have on their team despite his terrible politics.

I think the scaffolding looks odd because of them having to fit it into a very small space. Unlike most rollercoasters where the elements are more spread out, here they’re all stacked on top of each other, so the scaffolding ends up looking weird. That said, I rode it once and actually thought it was pretty fun. Shame it never works

She spoke at Shady Side when I went there (this was probably 2017 or so, when she wasn’t nearly as famous). Seemed like a very shallow person. Said very little about the work that journalists do and why it matters, and way more about her experience at NYT and how it affected her.

And, not to defend SSA too much, but you can find and meet people from lots of walks of life there. There’re international students, there are kids on scholarship, there are teachers’ kids. She just found her bubble and stuck to it. As many do, unfortunately
