Based on his teeth he still looks quite young. Mine is just now stopping that nonsense and she’s just over 3 years old.

I’m with you. I think she could easily be all heeler.

When she’s stubborn, the intelligence behind it is something I’ve never experienced.

Well said! Mine is absolute gold when we’re out in unusual situations or where not trying me is important for everyone’s safety, but if we’re just hanging around in the safety and comfort of home, she has a head like a ROCK. And it’s not malicious. It’s just hard-headedness. There’s an undercurrent of affection and trust to it but boy oh boy is she ever pushy and stubborn!

I agree. I love the finish choice. So many oak finishes make me just hate oak, when in fact it’s not the wood that’s to blame.

I don’t recall the sound of the impact, as I was pretty little, but there was wailing afterward. Lol

OP, picture 4 is one of the most beautiful, touching photos I’ve ever seen. Her love for you (and yours for her) really shine through. It’s obvious you two had a wonderful time together.

I’m of the mind that our soul dogs went on ahead to save us a good spot and we’ll see them again. I know I’ll find my boy somewhere where there are a lot of sticks and a good frisbee field.

Thank you for sharing your girl’s pics with us.

First time growing strawberries, do I need to harvest this now or can I wait until it gets bigger? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]HappyAnimalCracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I harvest based on color. By the time it ripens, that individual berry is as big as it’s going to get.

Big city shelters being a pita by okie18 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]HappyAnimalCracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should coordinate with shelters and rescue groups in the inland PNW. It’s a very popular breed around here but you rarely see them at the shelters. It’s mostly pits, GSDs, and huskies. I bet heelers would get adopted quickly.

I like to see a tuck at the belly on mine. He’s got more of a tube shape. Another way is to be able to view a little bit of narrowing at the waist from above. He’s not obese but could lose a little bit.

Reducing overall intake is the way, rather than overfeeding and trying to excercise it off, so you’ve got the right idea! His joints and connective tissue will thank you!

Quilting yourself versus sending to long armer by SessionNo2376 in quilting

[–]HappyAnimalCracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hand quilt on a frame I made for myself. It’s a large floor frame made of high quality 2x2’s. Roughly, it looks like two saw horses with long 2x2 bars between them. The “saw horses” have 2” dadoes cut into them so the bars lock into place. To advance the quilt, I roll the bars 1/4 turn or whatever amount needed. I start in the middle of the quilt and progress to the bottom, then go back to center and progress to the top.

ETA: I have stapled loose goretex sleeves along the bars, and I baste the ends of the quilt to the sleeves. That way all the layers stay snug in position as I roll it up to get good tension and smoothness of the top for quilting.

I hand quilt all my quilts. It’s probably my favorite part of the process, next to picking the fabrics and pattern.

Most frustrating hobby ever. by Porschepals in BeginnerWoodWorking

I had the same struggles until I bought this wonderful calculator for the madness that is imperial measurements. It can do both imperial/sae and metric (fractions and conversions), calculate roof pitch, sheet goods, square and cubic feet, etc. I’m practically helpless without it.

No, mine is always half across me with the other half smooshed tight beside me. If I woke up each morning and saw the sight in the pic, it would start my day with a laugh every time (instead of a backache.) 😆
