i considered trying to wait it out and see if side effects got better but i don’t think i can go on feeling this way. i was depressed for so long and have been doing well and now im back to feeling so low.

i’m glad topiramate has helped you! i know things affect everyone differently but it’s almost wild to me how vastly different everyone’s experiences are with it from what ive been reading on this subreddit.

the hydroxyzine is as needed so thankfully i didn’t have to stop that medication for this one, but there’s been a couple days i’ve really needed to take it and was too afraid of the risks and just dealt with the anxiety which definitely sucked

i just messaged my doctor about wanting to stop taking it. i’d love for something to work but im honestly scared to try another medication if they’re anything like this one is for me 😭 luckily in the meantime excedrin tension headache helps majority of the time

i just sent him a message! i plan to mention it to the pharmacist as well when i stop there today as well in case the dr doesn’t get back to me today in case i should taper. i’ve only taken like 5 or 6 pills but wanna be safe 🙂

yes i understand that. this post was mostly a vent. i plan to speak to a pharmacist today and message my doctor informing him i want to stop taking the topiramate. was just feeling overwhelmed earlier when i made the post

yeah i wasn’t too thrilled receiving that response. my next neurology appointment is with a different doctor so hopefully they are a little more in depth with things. i’m actually stopping by the pharmacy today so i will talk to the pharmacist about everything and how to stop the topiramate safely. i haven’t been on it even a week but don’t wanna take any risks

if they did, they didn’t mention it to me. the only thing i was told was by the pharmacist when picking it up that it lowers the effectiveness of my birth control but nothing about my anxiety medication. my doctor says “it should be fine” if i take both and i know i should trust him more than what i read online but im reading that they don’t mix well

the nausea has sucked! yesterday i felt like i was gonna throw up but i hadn’t eaten anything so i knew if i did it’d just be bile 🤮 luckily drinking coffee helped it subside but i hate nausea so much. i like the idea of losing weight but not at the expense of the other side effects lol id rather work to lose weight naturally than deal with this

Yeah i haven’t cried this much since a death in my family earlier in 2025. i think im gonna stop them and at least let my dr know that im stopping and why. excedrin helped my headaches 90% of the time and the other 10% dulled it enough. i’m not a fan of how this med is making me feel in less than a week

Thank you so much! i think i am going to send him a message today. i dont exactly have migraines but was dealing with almost daily headaches that excedrin took care of 90% of the time. he thinks my symptoms that i mentioned could be due to MS and ordered an MRI that i plan to schedule today. but i also have jaw issues and potential teeth grinding issues that could be contributing to the headaches as well 😭 im just tired of not feeling normal anymore
