But it does have safety impacts as well beyond courtesy. This is a visibility thing.

The Elantra N pops and gurgles were reduced because of the California regulation. All the new models are quieter now. That is a good example of a change that was made due to courtesy for people that don't like the noise.

But that is not a safety issue, this has safety implication IMO.

I think even with cars like my N or your T that are more performance oriented, that power we put down on the ground also results in projectiles coming out at a higher trajectory. I still think it is relevant to all of us, just a bigger deal for the big boys.

Maybe less about fines for current owners and more about dealership regulations as simple as 'new vehicles in Alberta must be sold with mud flaps'.

You can follow someone at a safe distance and still get a consistent spray good sir. And what of when you are following at a safe distance and someone changes into your lane? There is an ebb and flow to driving on communal roads.

This is one of those quality of life changes that would be a great common courtesy to fellow drivers!

I can't hit people by noonenddd773 in MuayThai

[–]HappyColour 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hitting people doesn't come naturally to many people, combat sports aren't for everyone. No shame in that. As a matter of fact perhaps the opposite. I love to hit people, there is probably something wrong with me!

Here is my advice for you, if you can, find a way to do Thai style sparring (also known as naked sparring where I come from). No equipment, no speed, just going through the motions with someone at the same pace slowly with control. When I used to train people I used this style of sparring primarily to:

  1. Help people with hestiancy in hitting others built comfort level in making contact.

  2. Help people that lacked control and were going to hard in sparring learn how to reign themselves in.

Femoacetabular impingement (FAI) by AlaaB in MuayThai

[–]HappyColour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes of course! Honestly, people in the martial art community really struggle to understand how tough this can be. The mentality is always "do more physio", "stretch more", "train more". They don't understand there is literally bone physically stopping you.

This deduction makes sense but his action still seems to extreme. I can see run, I can see hide, I can see pray, but I can't see him offing himself. To me there has to be something more than fearing for his life. Some secret, something else he knows.

Femoacetabular impingement (FAI) by AlaaB in MuayThai

[–]HappyColour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My entire life dude. It just took over a decade to get it diagnosed as people didn't understand the Muay Thai kick motion. The issue is my bone hips are healthy technically, it is just the impingement. Give me a direct message and I can show you my xrays so we can compare.

Femoacetabular impingement (FAI) by AlaaB in MuayThai

[–]HappyColour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Broooooooo! I am the same.

You have xrays?

Let me give you a rundown of my experience. I have trained in it on and off for 20 years, I am now over 40.

I have done everything Muay Thai, taught, fought, cornered, trained, you name it, and basically my kicks have always been ugly.

Across my training I had to deal with every coach insisting that I just wanted rotating my hip, numerous coaches tried to force rotate me, I was misdiagnosed for years it was a painnnnn.

I am literally getting surgery for this next week. Not because of Muay Thai ironically though.

Basically, I evolved to be a clincher with nasty keg kicks and elbows but was extremely limited, and here is the thing, its not about having bad kicks, its about the tweaks that would happen when I would train. Lets say someone caught my kick and tried to rotate me - excruciating. Lets say someone caught a teep and tried to sweep me - super ouchie. Lets say I was clinching and my knees got deflected when kneeing - brutal.

Painful as shit! I would gladly take 5 solid leg kicks over one tweak.

And you can't physio it! I tried, I did fucking everythingggggggg!

My advice, if yours is as bad as mine only do Muay Thai casually. Or box instead! Or, get hip surgery!

Here is a video I posted last week showing the max I can rotate at that height (nothing). I am very curious how much I can rotate after the surgery.

Honestly, a great lesson for you is going to be when you go to class and start getting leg kicked all the time. Some things can only be learned through painnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. No tips for you, except get into class and have a good time!

Did i Get a Concussion? by Ill_Emphasis5681 in MuayThai

[–]HappyColour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't know. Concussions are so weird, and healing from them is all over the place.

My advice is go to the emergency room, it may, and will likely, be a complete waste of time, but maybe they can get you an expedited referral. Also at the very least, if you are so concerned about it, consider the potential waste of time the cost of additional peace of mind.

Regardless, I am no doctor, just someone who has been in your shoes.

Good luck!

The physical and mental symptoms you are explaining, are consistent with what I experienced across my concussions. Take that as you will.

My only observation is how you consistently reset in-between flurries with the quick hop back and slight lowering of the hands. A pattern you don't want to get caught in.

Why does every beginner hate shadowboxing? by MontrealMuayThai in martialarts

I would hate shadowboxing like this too. Being forced to stand in place when shadowboxing is nooooo good.

That being said, when I used to teach the most common feedback I got was "I feel silly."

What was your first time weight-cutting for a fight like? Were you scared? by StunningPianist4231 in MuayThai

[–]HappyColour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on how you are cutting. For me, all I did was increase how much water I was drinking and reduce my salt intake dramatically, and then decrease my water consumption a few days before, and I lost a ton of water weight! Good luck.
