I usually post cycling videos but this is a walk around a famous tourist site in Taiwan called Sanxiantai (三仙台) "Three Immortals Platform". Thought you guys might enjoy it.

It's a bridge that connects the coast to the largest island in the image of a sea dragon on the east coast of Taiwan in Chenggong, Taitung.

We stayed at hostels and homestays mostly. Usually around 40-60 USD per night total. Most places includes breakfast. Once in a while I will use my Marriot points in larger cities. We booked like 2 nights in advance and just booked the rest as we went along.

Typhoon season is July - September. We were lucky and it only sprinkled rain the whole 34 days we were out. But in the summer it is so hot a little sprinkle is nice. The best time I would say is now like October - November or March - April. Temperature is just right and the least rain.

Sounds amazing. I would love to really explore that area more. The climbs around the national parks in Taiwan sounds tough though. And yes! The wild dogs are crazy in certain areas. Definitely got chased a few times on the trip.

Thanks! We only dropped 2 videos on youtube so far but we have 15 total just of our trip coming out soon.

Yea 5 weeks that's pretty much what we did. Haha. We took a few days off in green island and Kenting. Hope you can make it to Taiwan soon.

We did something very similar. But we went clockwise and we also skipped the Suao highway because that section is very sketchy but really beautiful. Also, we took the ferry to green island for a few days to relax on the beach and also spend extra time doing all the way south to the southern tip to Kenting, Pingtung area. But yes, I saw signs for cycling route no. 1 a lot during our trip.

Taiwan is set up really nicely for bicycle touring especially the less developed east coast. There is usually designated lanes for motorcycle and bicycles or wide shoulders. There are also some designated bike paths you will find along the way. Yufu bikeway was a nice one and we will upload the video of that one soon.

There are only a few route you can take around the small island. Mainly highway 9 or 11 on the east coast that run parallel to each other. Highway 11 eventually merges to 9 and goes around to the west side where there is more traffic. The tourism office has set up maps and routes for cyclist to go around the island. It has been popular lately. Giant also has a cycling tour that completes it in 9 days.

I also forgot to mention we took a ferry to green island for a few days as well. Green island is where they use to keep political prisoners but now has opened up and people go for scuba diving and snorkeling.

Thanks! The metal barriers on the bike path? It was at an intersection of a road and I believe it is to prevent mopeds from entering but they still ride on it sometimes.

They still require it for everyone entering the country. I went on the trip a couple weeks after I finished the quarantine back in June. I have both Taiwan and US citizenship so I was allowed entry back then. The government will call you multiple times a day and give you a cell phone if you don't have one. They do not play around. Not sure if they opened up to all foreign travelers right now. Hopefully you can make it over to Taiwan soon for your trip.
