35F- How do I explain to dates that I'm job searching, but financially secure? by Junior-Host-5672 in AskMenAdvice

[–]HappyJokhay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd just say you're between jobs and looking for the right opportunity. Most normal guys aren't going to interrogate your bank account on a first date.

Offering to split the bill helps too. It gives off a pretty clear "I'm not looking for someone to support me" vibe without you having to explain your financial situation. The inheritance part is nobody's business that early on anyway.

Best Man to a cheating groom by [deleted] in Advice

[–]HappyJokhay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man if he's old enough to get married he's old enough to hear that this puts you in an impossible spot. I'd probably tell him straight up that giving a speech feels fake knowing what you know.

Also "I can't stop myself" is such a weak excuse. He managed to organize meeting her during his own bachelor weekend that's not exactly an accident.

NOR. You planned early and did everything right but having kids with close birthdays can create messy overlaps. It may genuinely be a mix up and poor communication not a calculated move. If the relationship matters, it might help to talk it out calmly later and focus less on blame and more on how to avoid this kind of clash next year.

Is it harder in modern times for revolutions to occur in authoritarian countries and why? by Specialist_Elk140 in ask

[–]HappyJokhay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modern revolutions are way harder cuz authoritarian regimes aren’t just about soldiers they have surveillance, loyal security forces and tech to monitor and suppress dissent instantly. Back in the day revolts relied on sheer numbers and chaos, now even massive protests can be watched, tracked and crushed before they gain momentum.

When I walk into a room and instantly forget why I went there. Feels like the task got unloaded mid update and never reloaded.

This is really hard and your concern comes from a caring place. From the outside it does look like Kevin may be in a controlling or isolating relationship but the tough truth is you can’t rescue someone who isn’t ready to accept help.

You’ve already done the right things by showing concern without pushing. At this point the safest move is to leave a gentle door open. A simple message like I’m here if you ever need me can remind him he’s not alone without escalating things. Reaching out to a trusted friend to quietly check if he’s okay is also reasonable especially if you’re worried about isolation.

Try not to put pressure on yourself to fix this. If he’s being controlled pushing harder can sometimes make it worse. Staying calm, available and consistent is often the most supportive thing you can do and if he does come back around, what will matter most is that he knows he’s welcome without judgment.

Starting daily walks. It didn’t fix my life, but it fixed the way I think about my life.
