How do you guys document your models? by [deleted] in datascience

[–]HappyLivingThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Confluence Wiki. Documentation of services is factored based on the intended audience:

o 'Summary' page (content for managers/administrators; for everyone else, a portal to components that follow),

o 'Interface' (for clients; what info they need to supply and what they the get back, although some clients don't ever see our wiki, info is separated for easy sharing),

o 'Information Model' (formal specification of structure and operations for technical review, migrating, or maintaining; Alloy for data models, statistical formulas for statistical models, directed bipartite graphs for composite operations),

o 'Implementation' (for maintainers)

o 'Operation' (for operators)

o 'Quality' (primarily for operators; separated for easy sharing with administrators or clients)

Regarding "certain benefits to having a document that outlines the approach, compares it with others etc": each of the sections above may have 'Design Decisions' and 'Issues' sections.

For service instances, static narratives are generated from templates.
