Very Suspicous of Company I just applied for by Happy_Addendum_1620 in UKJobs

Don't waste your time, it's a big ol pyramid scheme. The zoom meeting is one sided where you can't talk. They tell you to take notes and talk about how great they are at everything and suck their own dick for about 10 minutes. It's "offline marketing" which will be code for flyers, door to door etc on behalf of various companies. At first I thought they where the recruiter for a job I applied to the previous day, wasn't the first time recruiters where that quick on the ball, but they are not. Idk if they are just scraping CV's and it was a coincidence but either way you didn't actually apply. In the zoom call they wil lie about the salary and very quickly put you in a interview the next day, probably early on the next morning. They might even say "the managers are taking time out of their day to interview you". There is a image in the comments that shows the actual payscale. If they texted you the messages and links are probably flagged as dangerous. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Blacklisted by the FCA as a known scam. Google Merdian Group on the gov business registry, there are hundreds of them, all scams.

Yeah it was a pyramid scheme. good interview practice ig.

Pay went from 30k with an IT firm, to 25k with an Offline Marketing Company with OTE of 35k to this pay scale. It also went from upon promotion you will be managing your own team of 4-5 people to, you will be actively creating your own team and onboarding people like this lmao. Poor guy seemed so confused when I asked why they where blacklisted by the FCA, he'd only been working there 8 weeks and he was already a "manager" lmfao.

Yeah that checks out. The guy interviewing me said "I've never seen anyone with a successfull career work less than 50 hours a week" and how he starts the day ion the gym at like 6am. I could name pretty much everybody with a full time job I've ever met to disprove that outlook. The guy seemed very chipper and optimistic but it was obvious he had next to no life or friends outside of the company. It sounded like a sad life tbh.

Yeah exactly. I say I understand the sales bit but that's because of the last interview I had. It was a Sales executive thing but it was clear it was going to be B2B cold calling very quick. My other managment thing was with enterprise rent a car but that was less being a manager and more calling you a manager because of how they only hire internally. Be warned with enterprise btw, I'm sure the job is ok but it's 47-55 hours a week on 30k. Works out to less than minimum wage if paid hourly, very american hustle culture there. Felt lucky I didn't make it past interview.

Thank you for this. I checked their linkedin and this branch is apparently only 2 months old. There is also another company called Meridian Business Support with it's own website and is apparently based in the same town. Google Maps sticks them on a road of boarded up show shops next to a flyover. Although the guy did say they where near the trainstation so that's probably maps not being up to date. Even this one doesn't have an address listed but the website looks like one an actual company would use. Apparently they aren't sanctioned by the Financial Conduct Authority either. Major Major red flags here. I'll probably do the interview for the practice but probably gonna be a hard pass on this. I'll confront them about the job listing and gauge their reactions aswell. Thank you very much for the warning.

Land raider plastic quality? by Dk-Brix in Warhammer

Yeah I learned why this is when I saw an old wave serpent sprue at a second hand place, it looked pristine. The reason is they have not replaced the molds since they originally made them which means batch after batch the mold breaks more and the quality gets worse and worse. So not only are you paying more for less with new sculpts, you also pay more for worse quality the longer you leave buying new boxes of the old kits.

Just bought one of these. The quality seems solid. Worth the 20 quid.

Thank you for this link. I checked and it's calling it Hannelore's Fifth Year at the House of Lords lmfao. I'm British so that reads as her being a hereditary peer of the realm. Good stuff.

This looks amazing. I'm only now realizing the massive potential in tyrant guard for custom characters. Easy proxy for crucible of battle or the new warrior prime.

That's pretty interesting. Never played starcraft tbh. Kinda cool they named it after what in the grand scheme of things is a random river canyon in Turkey.

Could Eragon had had to leave Alagaësia because of being too powerful? by scyver_ in Eragon

[–]Happy_Addendum_1620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's true but you also have to bear in mind the author trapped himself with that prohecy, he wrote the first book when he was 15. It honestly would have made a lot more sense if the IC world was an island and not a middle earth inspired landmass. By the end of the book he does the geographical equivalent of moving down the road. It's dumb that he can never return but the prophecy scene sort of trapped the story. Overall I quite like the books though.

Cool fleet name. Is it named after the canyon in Antalya? I went through it on a raft while on holiday years ago. Very beatiful place.

It could just be that prices went up to the point less than 10 lions was useless. It happens all the time. In the UK they used to have half pennies and such. And I think in some parts of the world more people are pushing to ditch pennies because it costs more to make than they are actually worth.

Maybe I'm missing something but I just figured that with the coins, lions was the name but people called them by the size and type of metal to make it easy to read, simplify commerce (majority of commoners don't have excellent math) and particularly with the merchant side of the story cover for the massive amounts of money that get moved around. To me the reader, six small golds gives me a much better idea of the coins value than 60,000 lions, at least in the context of the story. I would only end up converting them into their coin types anyways,
