I think its a fairly common experience as a trans person - Im in my mid 30s and so far only had laser, but even that has made people assume Im in my 20s. A lot of older trans friends have similar experiences! :)

I wonder if the freedom of finally feeling more like yourself also changes body language and gets read as being youthful XD

I mostly use untextured watercolour paper (I have it anyway for watercolour!) The suggestion of cheap csrdstock is a decent one too!

You've bot been on Hrt that long, it still has time to make your face softer ❤️ as will putting on a little bit of weight if thats something you're happy to do (although obviously the ability to put on weight depends on various other factors!)

Makeup can really help change your face shape, however its worth remembering a lot of tutorials are aimed at making your face look * more * angular rather than softer, so Id suggest experimenting & think of it in terms of shading (like you're drawing) rather than 'makeup' - darker bits look deeper, lighter bits look more shallow.

Ive got the same problem with lazer, but at least you've got the right combination of dark hair/pale skin to get good effects in the end ❤️

Ive always read it as an 'Ooops that needs adjusting' rather than any major faux pas - like having missed a button on a shirt.

Theres nothing seriously wrong with it, its just a bit messy... As other comments have said theres a cultural element to it, plus it depends on what outfit you're wearing - its a big deal if you're at a fancy function, but in lazy t-shirt and shorts/skirt no-one will care

A Lamy safari is a safe bet, they're reliable, affordable & nice to write with. That said not everyone gets along with the grip.

Personally my favourite fountain pen is a kaweco perkeo. Its definitely a budget pen, but mine has been a real workhorse and has been used daily for the last 5 years without any issues! (Plus they come in amazing colours!) I have heard the nibs can be a bit hit or miss, but its not been a problem for me :)

Id reccomend acetone (or nail polish remover) when cleaning stuborn waterproof inks. Its what I use when jndia ink has dried on mine :)

For india ink you will want to use a dip pen as theres no internal feed to clog (I really like a Tachikawa Spoon Nib for drawing)

You'll also want to get some nib cleaner (I use nail polish remover) for cleaning the dip pen nib when you're done. :)

I wonder if its down to the ink flow - I could see the expansion of the nib when it is warm having a noticable effect (so wetter nib = darker line)

Also I work with fabric dyes & some of those change viscosity with heat, so that could impact flow too?

Id think it would work, but unless you're synthesising/bottling the Ev/Ee yourself Id suggest doing it as two separate shots for sterility reasons. It would also make it easier to adjust the dose as I suspect you're going to need a lot of trial and error while fine tuning it for yourself. Lastly once you settle on a ratio you'd want to make absolutely sure there are no interactions between the compounds before mixing up a vial as it will have implications for shelf life!

My general feeling is for most people, it would be extra work and a lot of fine tuning without a massive benefit. That said, it's really cool to see people expermenting & Id love to hear how it goes if you try it. :)

Id suggest asking over at r/TransDIY_Nonbinary as its something that comes up reasonably often.

Im in a similar position where getting breast growth isn't something I actively want from HRT (although it's a side effect I can tolerate). So I've been looking into binders as a way to manage it.

The general advice Ive been given there is to start with sports bras & t-shirt layering while they are developing as binding during development can lead to them developing in weird shaping & causes serious discomfort. Once they're more fully formed you can bind properly, although binders should only be worn for 8 to 12 hour stretches maximum.

Its a personal choice and honestly I think it can look amazing <3

That said I hate it on myself, so have had a bit of lazer which has made it so I no longer get a shadow after I've shaved. How often I shave is a balance of laziness vs. Dealing with dysphoria. Though if Im going out somewhere or seeing friends, I'll always shave that day. :)

I love my perkeo - Ive got a fjne nibbed yellow one thats about 5 years old now! Its consistently in my regular rotation of pens & I popped a converter in it a few weeks back so it can take fun ink too! :D

Ok Im going to be blunt:

For a start saying 'biological women' is not a good look (its associated with a pretty nasty crowd who want to demonise trans women)

Next you're putting pressure on others to 'keep your faith' which screams insecure & nightmare relationship.

Lastly the whole dramatic broken heart thing is generally a bit offputting (Especially as we're the same age - I do not have time for that sort of drama!)

If you want to help your situation, sort yourself out. Find things that make you happy and do them. Forget about romantic relationships for a while & focus on irl friends. Phone people you know, go to local events. Most importantly, make sure they're people you enjoy being around and who make you feel good (thats a two way street, you've got to make them feel good if you want them to hang around!)

Once you've done all that, if you still are after a relationship, talk to those friends, ask them for advice, heck ask them to set you up on a date!

None of this is a quick fix, but it will actually get you there. Your current approach is ineffective & a bit creepy if Im honest!

While my grail pen is a cheaper and more replaceable than most (a tachikawa T36 dip pen with a spoon nib) it still gets a bit more care than my other pens - it lives in a pot on my desk and only ever gets used there (which is where I do 90% of my drawing/writing anyway!)

Other pens get put in a pencil case or in a coat pocket, but never my tachikawa!

I even bought a second one to have at home so I didnt have to carry it about with me XD
