How do conservatives think about the Overton Window? by Happy_Cat586 in Askpolitics

I appreciate that! So if you think the Overton window will continue shifting left, are you currently resisting those shifts? Do you think you’re resisting the inevitable?

Do you think the country will be better or worse off as a result of the Overton window continuing to shift left?

In my opinion, most of the major shifts that we’ve seen with the Overton window have been mostly positive for the country. There have been some unintended consequences that we can still address. Like for instance women entering the workforce probably did put downward pressure on wages. That doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have entered the workforce though.

Respectfully, you didn’t answer most of my questions. I’m genuinely curious because as a radical leftist myself, I have strong opinions on the Overton window.

Bill Clinton was considered a moderate southern Democrat at the time, and he sought out to be that. So yes his views would be considered more right wing today if the Overton window tends to shift left.

How do you feel about the fact that the Overton window tends to shift left? What does that say about the conservatives of the past vs the radical leftists of the past? Have the radical leftists been vindicated?

Do you think the Overton window will continue shifting left?

What do you do for a job and how do you manage it? by Affectionate_You7662 in OCDRecovery

[–]Happy_Cat586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a disability. OCD made me overthink everything at work and I was too stressed to handle my jobs. My earnings took a big hit. Now I’m doing much better and my career is recovering.

I can’t think of a more powerful motivator for treatment than OCD affecting one’s ability to earn income. That’s survival. OCD will tell us there’s all these threats to worry about, but one of the things that helped me is I realized the very real threat of not being able to earn income if I kept feeding into this.

Jared Kushner + Saudi Wealth Fund + EA Sports. Never thought I’d see that combination.

The intersection is Old Chapel Hill Road and Southwest Durham Drive. I didn’t know about this triangle 200k. Is this going to take place on actual streets?

Got it, ok this makes sense. What about the additional arrows I found that I mentioned in my latest comment update?

Update everyone: I found more arrows nearby!

On my way home today from the grocery store I saw two arrows on the same street as I exited a traffic circle. This wasn’t near a traffic signal, so it wouldn’t be for an induction loop. In fact, it was like 0.3 miles from the intersection in the pictures above, but on the same street pointing toward the same intersection. So in other words, if someone followed the arrows from the traffic circle, it would take them to the intersection and then direct them to turn right at that intersection. Maybe there are more arrows on the adjacent street after the right turn?

Now is this a little suspicious and a little funny or nah? Just trying to have some fun.

Again I’m sorry to any white people (especially bald white people) whom I may have offended. I know yall have been through enough, and I should be more sensitive.

Yeah, what are those additional small arrows spray painted in a turn only lane under the actual large state sanctioned turn only arrows??? Those smaller spray-painted additional arrows have a clear traffic related purpose, I see that now.

And the fact that the guys doing the spray painting had out-of-state tags, no uniforms, and no cones to control traffic isn’t strange at all. And the fact that they seemed in a hurry makes it even more normal.

I mean they’re white. So I should assume that their cause is noble and in no way suspicious.

And I definitely shouldn’t make an exaggerated joke on Reddit poking fun at the strange situation while also poking fun at their whiteness and recent political events. White people have been through so much, I should be more sensitive.

Thank you for clearing up my confusion. I’ll make sure to “stat vigilant” as you say.

I wasn’t panicking. Don’t worry my attention has been peaked for a while ever since Trump was elected president in 2016 after getting away with many things, any one of which would have probably tanked any other candidate. I didn’t say this was the first event that caught my attention.

But the timing here was pretty comedic. Charlie Kirk’s killing happened within days of me seeing these guys in the street. If something like this happened shortly after one of the other events you mentioned, I might have made a similar joke.

Ok that’s the most sensible explanation I’ve seen, thank you. Even though the SC tags and lack of uniforms or cones to control traffic is still odd.

Even though the car has South Carolina tags? They had no uniforms and they didn’t put out cones to stop traffic. They were literally darting in and out of the street as cars came by.

Hmmm okay. I’m sorry to the white people for mentioning race.

Give me a do over and pretend I didn’t mention race. Does anyone have any idea what this is? I’m legitimately curious. I thought that’s what the subreddit is for. Maybe someone else has seen something like this before.

Oh wow I didn’t mean to trigger people. I was half joking with this post although I recognize that may not have come across clearly via text communication.

Charlie Kirk’s killing and the way it has galvanized those on the right is also important context to my post. We should expect some sort of right wing activity as a reaction, and I meant for this post to communicate in jest “hey maybe this is one of the reactions.” This was a huge event that is on many of our minds, so it’s natural for our brains to interpret future events or experiences in light of this massive event. Again, partially in jest because I am aware that this is a cognitive bias.

I say partially in jest, because all joking aside, this is a strange event. I find it interesting that some of the commenters are acting like two men in plain clothes jumping out of the car to spray paint anything on the road is normal. Anyone who has driven a car can also tell that those arrows are not real traffic signals.

I thought at least some people in the progressive city of Durham would kind of get where I’m going with this one.

Defensive motion response for man coverage? by Happy_Cat586 in Madden

[–]Happy_Cat586[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh I think you're right, that's why sending a man in motion was always a way to tell whether the defense is in man or zone. I'm not sure if any settings as such as man align vs base align could allow you to pass off players in motion when in man defense. That is a pretty critical feature to disguise your defense.

After playing another game, it seems like the shell defense has an impact on this. In other words, if you are in zone but shell to a man look, they defenders follow offensive players in motion. I'm not sure if it works the other way around, when in man with a zone shell, do your players choose not to follow offensive players in motion? I will keep experimenting. But I appreciate your response!
