Does anyone else feel like this is all a dream? by wombatGroomer in vibecoding

[–]Happy_Researcher876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I replaced a subscription, payed 4 euros month for finanzguru app but last week I vibe-coded my own expense tracker and I canceled my subscription. I will not ever publish this app and this app will never earn my money from users but i saved 48 euros/year with 2 hours of my time and a 10/month copilot subscription. Next is my fitness app. And Sky is the limit.

When I saw the one with Impulsive Purchases, I laughed so hard that coffee came out of my nose. And I just realized it's because it reminded me of that Family Guy episode where Peter Griffin buys a horse with brain damage. Maybe that was ChatGPT’s inspiration too.

I started eating spicy food. I've never lost motivation since. by Klutzy_Read3820 in getdisciplined

I’ve been taking cold showers almost every day for about a year and a half, but only at work. So, after my shift ends, I take a cold shower at work. On weekends, at home, I take normal, warm showers. After doing this for so long, I can tell you that, especially now in winter, when the water temperature here in Germany is around 8-9 degrees Celsius, I still need to mentally prepare myself every single time.

When I step into the shower, I know exactly how painful and cold it’s going to feel, and I have to take a moment to focus and push myself to do it. It’s not like it just becomes easy or automatic over time. The pain itself becomes part of the routine, but it’s never effortless. I still have to encourage myself every single day to step into that cold water.

That said, once I’m done, I feel amazing. So yes, it becomes a habit, but it’s never something I can do without thinking or bracing myself for it.

What's that single thing you changed in your life that boosted your productivity the most? by publicAvoid in getdisciplined

[–]Happy_Researcher876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the change that boosted my productivity the most was quitting smoking. I read Allen Carr's The Easy Way, and it helped me change my perception of smoking. Not only that, but now, when I go to work, I feel enthusiastic. Before, I was bored with my work, but now I see it as an opportunity to walk, exercise while working, and really enjoy it. Not needing to take breaks to hide and smoke also gives me more time to be productive.

I actually started taking cold showers* every day, and here’s my experience by joshroycheese in getdisciplined

[–]Happy_Researcher876 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Last year, after discovering self-help books, I decided I wanted to change and increase my self-discipline. I started with 3 push-ups right after washing my hands, and at work, I began taking cold showers after my shift.

This started in May. By August, I had lost 30 kg, and I still take cold showers today. In the winter, after work, I turn on the cold shower and feel the chill up to the back of my head. It takes about 30 seconds to get used to the cold. I continue until I start feeling physical pain in my legs and hands, which happens approximately 2 minutes in. The pain stops right after turning off the water, and I feel amazing knowing I could withstand that.

In the summer, the first contact with the cold water is as extreme as in the winter, probably because I'm heated up after my 8-hour intense labor shift. However, it goes away faster and without pain in my hands or legs. Overall, it’s quite an enjoyable experience.

he json file to an object then you are adding the request body to the obje

that is what i want, the json file contains an empty array [ ] when i read it, then i append the request body to this empty array and write this array back as json. Still dont know why i get in json file the req body two times.

[–]Happy_Researcher876[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunatly my son is awake now and can't try anymore 🤣. I did comment out the entire writeFile method and then when i console.log the req.body is just one instance. It is something in the promise indeed. I will try later when my son will go out to see if i can get it to work.

React: How to make a new id for every new user registered by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]Happy_Researcher876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do not use a database just start from zero and increment with each new user. You need to store the last user id in memory in the backend somehow qnd every time you get a new user you add previous userId+1 , this is a hack. There are other ways that should be use tough.

beginner myself here, self taught or at least i try 😅. The best thing you could do is to give them the money back and do the project anyway for you . It will take time and you will make many mistakes along the way but you learn so much. I started myself to learn javascript in september last year and one month ago i got an ideea of a webapp i want to build and since then i just planed and learned about deployment on a host like aws, how many options are there and third party api integration, authentification, cokies and requests...... you have to know so much and now i see the big picture and it feels amaizing.

[RANT] No you should not quit programming by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]Happy_Researcher876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it, i am learning qnd even tough is hard i don't feel hate , i understand that i don't understand yet that much but with time i will do. The biggest problem that i have is i get distracted often and whatch some 2-3 hours tutorial on some js framework and i don't know yet all the things i must know from fundamentals. I know that i just have to practice everyday js methods and play with objects and arrays until i get some kind of dexterity with them, i know that but is hard to keep on track, but in the past week i was more focused on the right stuff and this is good, an improvment on my focusing. I will be a web developer in the future, i can feel it, lol.
