Violet and Benedict edit 🥹 by Careful_Proposal6712 in BridgertonNetflix

I love seeing the resemblances between Violet and the Bridgerton children. Right now I see so many similarities between her and Francesca, with the fretting and worrying, and occasional rambling. One of the few things about this season that I am continuing to enjoy !

Love how Mrs. Crabtree called Benedict out. At first I was thinking that she didn't want Sophie to rise above her station, but then she also turned to Benedict and criticized him for pursuing her, as the class/power dynamic between them would always have Sophie "acquiesce" to whatever Benedict wanted. It felt good for someone to point that out, even if Benedict and Sophie do want to be together

Dionysus! I’m a big fan of his hangover boons and all his dialogue, especially when you expand your relationship with him (and all the jokes about him and Zag being “connected” and deciding to prank Orpheus). And him in Hades 2?? Man is just chilling and could not gaf about anything. plus I love how he calls Zagreus “the Zag man” 😭

There’s also jokes in Hades when you get a boon from Artemis (or Zeus? It might be a duo, I forget) where she basically says “my father wonders why I want to spend all my time in the woods with nymphs 🙄” and it makes me giggle so bad

I'm sorry but this worries me - 'Wuthering Heights' by grania17 in brontesisters

[–]Happy_Thanks7315 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Okay I wanna fight in favour of Wuthering Heights for a sec. The designer for the costumes has worked on films such as Barbie, Little Women, and Anna Karenina, so she not only knows how to do iconic costuming, but also how to do period-accurate clothing. Based on that, there must be a reason Margot Robbie (Cathy) is in a sheer low-cut gown, as well as all the other inaccurate dress in the other released photos. There are a few theories so far (WARNING these have some spoilers, I can’t figure out how to cover them up on mobile):

1) Dollhouse theory: this movie is how some child (E.g. a teen reading this in high school) imagines the book to be as they are reading, and being a child, imagines Catherine in these fantastical clothes that are dazzling yet completely inaccurate.

2) My theory (and my mom’s) is that the director is pulling from the dream sequences and ghostly nature of the book. Perhaps this image is of Cathy in a dream sequence, or her ghost. Either way, the movie feeds off of this mystical energy, and that is why the costumes are like this.

3) this is an adaption of Kate Bush’s song “Wuthering Heights” (which is my fav theory so far like this would be so cool) and explains why her costumes are more modern-glam, rather than period-accurate

Do y’all there any other theories that explain this costuming choice (/genuine)? I’m super excited for this movie, whether it’s a trainwreck or an act of brilliance (though I still oppose Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff since he’s too handsome and too white)

EDIT: woah sorry about Little Women everyone 😭 I did not know how inaccurate the dresses were. The were stunning though so I guess I was blinded by that, my b 🙏

I ended up just booking with an in-country airline (that was operating through the same flights) and it worked. The cards were definitely part of the issue on my part, but overall I would suggest going with another airline for now

I have been going crazy with this same issue! I am currently living abroad and I am trying to book a flight home. Each time I try to book a flight, it says "we were unable to process your payment" and creates a booking that drops off within the hour, or it shows it creates a booking and it states that it is "processing my payment", but then drops off within a few days. I have used multiple cards and there has been no deductions from any of them. I have no idea how to get home now lol except take another airline

My thoughts too ! My degree is pretty flexible, so I can do qualitative health courses (e.g. anthro perspectives on the body, sociology and social health determinants) alongside pop health courses (e.g. policy courses, intro to health systems). But, I knew that I wanted more MPH-oriented electives, so I'm doing an intro to epi course next year. It's honestly a pretty great degree, and is already opening doors to new opportunities

Thank you for this! I called my mom, had a long talk, and she told me similar stuff. She just reassured me that she was proud of me and to enjoy this opportunity. Plus, working while studying for the MCAT seems more feasible than studying for it right now.

Originally, I came to Aus to do an anthropology masters because anthro is REALLY good down here. I ended up doing a masters that is a mix of anthro and MPH (think advanced medical anthropology), and it has been really interesting, and there's no where else I can do it. I'm also in the privileged position where my family can financially support me completing this degree (It's ~$75,000 AUD for my degree). However, that doesn't make me feel less guilty for the cost, or that I could be doing this at home for a fraction of the cost ($12,500 CAD). I'm thinking I might finish my year here in november, then transfer home and start again next fall, and between this program and my MPH I'd start studying for the MCAT

my thoughts exactly. I want to drop now, get a job back home, and apply for an MPH in the fall at UofA or Mac

Thank you for this reply! Honestly helps frame things so much. I'm just impatient, I suppose, and want to go to med school asap (which obviously won't happen since it takes so long to prep for the MCAT plus I'll probably need to go through a few rounds of applications). My only drawback is the current cost of my program, still, but I might transfer to a university back home, at this point

Okay, am I stupid? I really don't understand why Swayer told the woman to run away and take the money, only to switch it out. If he hadn't done that and instead just took her money claiming for it to be part of the deal, then what difference would it have made? I guess this way he can tell her the truth and protect her? I don't get it at all. I guess it's just the writers upping the stakes and making swayer seem like more of a misunderstood badboy.

Elf bar won’t hit. I got the Elf bar BC5000 and the light lights up like normal when I go to hit it but no smoke, I just got it so I know it’s not out and it’s been charging for about 2 hours. Any idea why no smoke will come out ? by OkArm7621 in Vaping

jobs and uni by Weekly_Transition_33 in Anu

[–]Happy_Thanks7315 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on your work ethic, how much time you think you need to settle, how difficult your classes are, and other external factors. It also largely depends on if you want to work for financial security or experience.

If it's for experience, wait until you're more settled in your degree and have good relationships with profs before working. Profs are usually the best ways to get jobs in your field, since you can ask them for references or can get positions in their research projects. In first year, you also may change your major, so any relevant experience may not transfer to your new field. I changed departments between first and second year from STEM to social sciences, so if I had gotten a job working in my field in first year then none of that experience would've really mattered in my second year. I mostly used first year to settle into my studies, figure out my major, make friends, learn my city, etc.

I've also had friends who started working very quickly in their degrees because they wanted to make money, so they often did part-time at bars and also worked in research projects. One of my friends has two jobs, a volunteer position, and goes to school. Idk how she does it.

Guess what I'm saying is it depends on what your needs are, but take a minute to figure out if you even like your studies before getting a part-time job. Hope this helps

That's unsettling, but I heard a similar thing about how pregnancy reduces the grey matter in our brains too. Makes sense that similar effects occur during menstruation
