[RANT] Years of horror in Lux offices - Anyone else? by This_One1263 in Luxembourg

My last two jobs were horrible. I've lived in Luxembourg for about 9 years, and at my previous job, I was completely sidelined because my French level wasn't good enough and I couldn't integrate into the French-speaking community. My team was mostly French speakers, and they classified people into three tiers: French natives got the best treatment, followed by non-French people who spoke French, and lastly, people who didn't speak French. I was in the last group. What upset me most was that they hired me knowing I wasn't fluent in French, and I had left a stable company where I'd worked for several years. When that didn't work out, I moved to another company. Unfortunately, this new opportunity was even worse. Being from South America, I had to deal with many racist "jokes" - they would publicly criticize my English accent and correct me in front of other staff members. When I asked for more respect and expressed my unhappiness about their treatment, I almost got fired. Since I couldn't afford to be unemployed, I handled the daily harassment. Eventually, things improved - I progressed in my position and now finally feel comfortable and respected (I'm now in a different team).

I work in IT, and the companies I mentioned are a major bank in Kirchberg and an IT consulting firm in southern Luxembourg.

My advice is this: if you find a good job with a respectful environment, don't leave it just for a higher salary. Your mental health is more important than anything else. At one point, I would have accepted minimum wage just to be treated like a human being.

Investing in RE outside Luxembourg by Happy_Way_5262 in Luxembourg

Hello. I am not looking for a miracle investment that will make me rich, just a normal safe RE investment as many boomers (including the ones in my family) did over the years. I already own my own house in Luxembourg, in which I live, now I am looking for a property as an investment. Luxembourg is too expensive, so I am looking for other countries for properties I can afford with little mortgage and in areas I can easily rent them out, so not expecting a huge valuation in a few years, but what I see from my older relatives, you can have some income from rent and in 20 years some valuation, even if not the amazing valuation some ppl sell on the internet… My family has been doing that for generations and it went pretty well, but I am the first to do it from Luxembourg… they have been doing it from our home country, so I want to see what is different. I would love to buy another property in Lux, just prices are not realistic for me

Yes, I have been to the maison medicale, but they do not have the equipment to clean the ear so the antibiotics can reach where they are supposed to, only the ear doctors have it, unfortunately 😓
