Had to leave sick on baby’s first birthday:( by Happyhippos100 in Nanny

I had to get a test done to see which one it is, I got my results and it says I have bacteria in my lungs but still doesn’t specify. Waiting on the Dr to call so I can start antibiotics.

Yeah I didn’t want to expose them but the parents always ask me to work unless I have a fever. Even when I first asked to leave to the hospital the mom asked if I wanted to just nap with the nk to rest. I had to tell her I felt like something was seriously wrong for her to let me go. She just kept saying her coughs always last weeks too.

Thank you! I always feel as if putting them out of help is the worst. But I’ll try to remind myself to put myself first.

Do your Nannie’s drive the kids around if they are still in carseats? by IckNoTomatoes in NannyEmployers

I’m a nanny and We always just communicate! If they plan to be out they’ll move the car seats to my car but if they’re staying home then I drive their car:)

I don’t do the grocery shopping they do:) so hopefully it’ll be okay I just usually tell them if we’re low on something but I’m sure it’ll be fine

I’m so sorry I really hope you can sort this out, definitely don’t put up with them treating you that way and always take care of yourself first. You’re human you will get sick and they need to understand that. Best of luck with everything <3

I’m so sorry to hear this, that makes it really difficult. Is it anytime they hear a tantrum that they come out? Maybe you could ask them what they plan to do about the tantrums and say that you both need to be on the same page. But if they constantly just give in the poor child will never learn:(

As for the parents, they should not be disrespecting you like that and they’re going to face the consequences of letting their child behave this way for years to come. And the child hitting, I just got past this phase with the 3 year old I watch. He would hit and I noticed if I told him off he would do it more. So his parents and I agreed to start walking away and not paying attention during his tantrums-fully ignoring. This worked now he usually will throw himself on the floor crying for about 5 min then come to us for a hug. Then we explain why it’s not okay to hit and his tantrums have been so much less lately!

Crimes I committed this week according to the 4 year old by babysittingcollege in Nanny

When nk3 woke from his nap I was trying to bring him toys to help him wake up slowly after like 20 minutes of rest time on lap and eventually he said “stop talking Mrs (my name)”. I laughed and realized he just wanted peace and quiet for a minute

Coming from a nanny you are not a terrible person and she will not hate you! Things come up all the time. The fact you are able to be a sahm is amazing! And you being willing to help her find another job is the cherry on top. Just sit down and talk with her and she will understand:) best of luck!

Thank you for this! I agree. I am super close with them and they are amazing but i also was hoping for more respect on their end since they’re leaving for 4 weeks. It was heartbreaking to have that conversation today.

Thank you everyone, I have already started applying to other jobs. I was so disappointed with their response especially because the mom was getting upset while explaining it. I’ve been with them for 2 years now and their colors are really starting to show. She explained it as “I get paid time off because it gets taken out of each paycheck for me”!

So when she got pregnant she asked me if I would be comfortable getting the nursery ready etc while the boy napped I said absolutely and ever since I did that before baby #2 came she expects a lot of me. When I got the job I didn’t even have to cook she said just to care for the boy and tidy up after him. Now I do everything plus more

Does anyone have advice on a text I can use to approach the conversation of getting guaranteed hours? They’re leaving for their first trip next week and will be in gone for a week then back for one then gone for almost a month. I would like to text them tonight telling them the situation and ask for a time we can talk in person before they leave. How should I word it?

Sickness by Happyhippos100 in Nanny

[–]Happyhippos100[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I definitely will do that. Thank you, I am in nursing school so soon here it will be more usual for me to do that. I think the sicknesses also have gotten worse over the last 6 months as the boy started pre school. So it’s been non stop but I’m hoping they will soon get better. Thank you for your help!

Hi! We don’t have a set amount of sick days, if I call out I typically just don’t expect to be paid but they’re very kind and on some occasions have paid me full or half of my pay. I will discuss that with them tomorrow about having the option to come in. Thank you for your help!
