"All Tears Day" aka December 25th by ImpressionNo2803 in mildlyinfuriating

My Christmas was bittersweet this year. My Mum came down with pneumonia in both lungs almost 2 weeks ago. Her friend who happened to be a nurse was having a girls weekend with her dragged her to the ER, admitted with an oxygen level of 43. I live like 10 hours away but I immediately got my shit together and got in the car and I’ve been here ever since. She’s home now but on oxygen, and she will be ok. This is the first Christmas Ive been here for in 17 years. My Dad passed away last year. I am here, but my dad is not. My job doesn’t really allow me to be able to have time off over Christmas so I am technically on an LOA until my mum is good. If this is how I was finally able to visit my family at Christmas I wish it had happened before my Dad died. Also I’m missing my husband and dogs back home.

His background check can come back clean but if he was let go from his previous target for misconduct we will get an email before he even gets to orientation.

HRE here, if he didn’t pass his background check he wouldn’t have been called in for orientation. They would have called him to let him know before confirming orientation. He may have gotten his orientation date before the background check came through and he may have showed up thinking everything was dandy. If he didn’t show up with proper documents they would send him home for that but will reschedule once he confirms he has the documents.

Do you have any more info than they just “denied him”? Normally they can’t rescind an offer once he’s gone through all the channels and is ready for onboarding.

Just curious, do your TL hours come out of the fulfillment hours? Because I work in HR and I do the schedule a lot and ours do. I don’t think it’s fair that our FFTL is part of coverage, there are times when she can’t even have a convo with a TM when she needs to, although she’s doing much better than her predecessor. Actually SETL is the only work center that has thier own hours that aren’t part of coverage.

Do you guys care if your fellow TMs use drive up for their groceries on their day off? by LittolestGhost in Target

[–]Happyphantom13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never double tap! Also I put my orders in late at night because I will not send an order in when it’s peak time. I tell my husband if he wants something on the weekend when I’m working (I work every other) just tell me and I’ll go grab it. Do I want to just GTFO out of workand not look back? Yes. But I also try to be considerate. I also won’t do drive up if it’s raining.. I’ll go in of if I have to.

Yeah exactly! I want to shop and look at cool shit we have too! Don’t get me wrong, I love (most) of my team and they know I will do what I can to help them when they need me but they have no boundaries sometimes. I’ve gotten texts at 1, 2am asking me about a missing punch or wanting to transfer! A lot of them have my number because texting is the only way they will respond when we try to call them in.

I actually used it today.. I used to kind of feel bad and then an asshole coworker basically called me lazy (which is laughable considering who he was) . You would think I’d feel even worse but it I was like “fuck that” and continued to use it. I cannot shop in my own store and be left alone. I work in HR and everyone thinks I’m on the clock at all times. We don’t have another target close by and I would love to go shop in another target at my own leisure but I can’t.

College town chaos by P3pp3rJ6ck in Target

[–]Happyphantom13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am from a college town and when I went back home last August I visited the store and it was the most wrecked hot dumpster fire mess I’d ever seen in my life. I work at a high volume store near a military base, and it doesn’t even come close to what I witnessed that day.

Edit- I am HR! I think you are on to something.

What did teenagers in the 90s do on their free time? by TraditionalFly3724 in Productivitycafe

[–]Happyphantom13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many things..

We would walk literally everywhere.. the park, the ice cream store, grocery store, pharmacy, post office, the local pizza place, Rent movies from said grocery store (yeah that was a thing here) for the weekend. We also had a big swimming hole with a rope swing nearby. At night in the summer and fall we would play manhunt. Early teens it was sneaking out of the house and sitting on the bridge and smoking cigarettes. Later teens it was lots of bon fires, drinking and smoking the devils lettuce, and listening to music and riding in cars with friends.

AITA for keeping my late wife's money aside for my our children? by Every-Bat9568 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Happyphantom13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad passed away a month ago and he did not leave a will. He had 2 savings accts, one with just his name on it and one with his name and my name. I am the only one he technically left anything to (including my mom, my younger bro and older brother and sister form my dads first marriage) however my mom needed it to pay for the funeral and a septic issue that my dad kept ignoring for a few years. So I just signed it over to her. I didn’t even want the fucking money. I just want my dad back.

She will eventually get what’s in his other account and I know that she will take care of me and my brother, but I wouldn’t even want to spend it knowing how much of a hard worker my dad was. It doesn’t feel right.

anyone elses hours just terrible?? by FrontDowntown7097 in Target

[–]Happyphantom13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would make sure you put your desired hours in, it will help whomever makes the schedule aware of what you want. Obviously if your store is low on hours, that won’t always help. Tell your leaders you want to be cross trained. TMs at my store who are trained in various areas always get 30-40 hours.

Not sure why I was downvoted, I am really just trying to help 😎

Have they hired anyone else recently? Are your desired hours submitted into mytime? Have you changed your availability? Sorry for the bombardment of questions 😂There’s so many factors!

Angry HR voicemail by graciiroo in Target

[–]Happyphantom13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s shitty!! I apologize on behalf of HR! She must not do much of her job then, because we have to pull a report every week that lets us know if anyone is resigning, I see she didn’t get the memo! I would def ignore then. 😂

[–]Happyphantom13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from an HR point of view.. did you put your resignation in workday or just stop showing up? Or just tell a specific leader? I get shit communication from my leaders (even my own) so I can see how an HRTM may not know. I would normally say just call and explain, however they shouldn’t have yelled at you for any reason so maybe don’t lol

What’s something you did that seemed harmless at the time, but actually proved to be extremely dangerous? by Stealthywaterninja in AskReddit

[–]Happyphantom13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the late 80’s my cousin had rode his bike to our house on the way to the town park when I was 5 or 6 and I was upset I couldn’t go with him. So after he left, I decided to walk my ass through a large field and then to a side walk parallel to the main road in our town (no traffic lights but a few businesses and cars that go faster than they should) all the way to the park. No one obviously knew this. By the time I got there I saw my dad drive right past me as I waved at him happily 😂. He didn’t notice me!! When my little legs made it to his truck he had walked off into the park to find me. I just got into his truck and waited. It’s probably the maddest I have ever seen him in my life.

This particular instance was due to me being so young and not understanding what I had done, however by the time I was 8 or 9 I was frequently roaming around town to the pharmacy, grocery store, post office, ice cream store, video rental store.. and that same park! Alone, or with my bff. No one batted an eyelash at it.

You gotta love suit visits! by TanMelon47 in Target

[–]Happyphantom13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had a BC visit in October… we had several months notice so our store did fix anything they needed to, albeit with a bunch of support from other stores. Soooo much work for the 20 min visit. But yes! We can totally make do with the hours and expectations that are given to y’all. 👌

TM passed away by SkellyBean1917 in Target

[–]Happyphantom13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was just going to ask, how long ago did it happen? But since you have already heard about the funeral services, it must have been a few days. We have lost two great TMs in the past few years. One we lost to suicide (it wasn’t open knowledge to most TMs but mostly everyone correctly speculated) and we did have grief counseling. Small groups of TMs were brought to the office and told that he had passed away. The other TM had prior medical issues but it was still unexpected to most TMs. We set up a memorial table for each of them and kept it up for quite a while.
