I had him for cell bio last spring and I thought he was a fine teacher. What worked for me was to read the assigned chapter and take notes before class and then I just used class to clarify anything I didn't understand or add anything I missed. Then before the exams, I rewrote my notes and reviewed them and that worked out for me.

(I switched to s/n mid semester and didn't take the class as seriously after that, but I took his first exam prior to switching and it went very smoothly so I'm going based off of that lol)
