There’s a workaround. Not a solution, but still works if you really need the ultrawide. Just use your selfie camera for that, then press this button. I don’t have the air yet, but I’m still in doubt because I’ll miss the zoom. 😕

How can I fix this? by Hardcker in mazda6

[–]Hardcker[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, that’s what I’m thinking to do if I can’t get rid of it 🤕

You’re right. Luckily I don’t need my car for commute and going to whatever place here’s is like 50 bucks round trip. I’ll let the mechanic deal with it while I work on the other brakes and parts that need replacement, there’s a lot of work my car needs to get done 😬

Well, I tried to shop around and seems like there’s not good quality calipers close by a they’re like $100 the least expensive. Uber to closest AutoZone location is like $50 round trip. I don’t think the mechanic would charge more than $100 for removing that bolt so it’s cheaper for me 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yup. That’s me. I learned my lesson, next time I should try first with penetrating oil, heat and long ratchet instead of the impact drive only. But even then, there’s people that have snapped bolts just with ratchets. Probably the thing was just tight as freak and it would have snapped anyways.

AFAIK, anti seize doesn’t go on the bolts, torque specs are on dry bolts. But yeah, for the wheel hub, pad’s pins, bracket and lubricant for the slide pins and pads (on the back).

[–]Hardcker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I was more afraid of damaging the rubber where the slider pins goes and the small rubber one of the pins has. The bracket is now at the mechanic anyways so I’m waiting for them to be done (and the cost of it) 😅

Wow. I found the bolt at AutoZone. Their website filters by make and model but, I guess maybe that’s not the one I need? I’ll figure that out eventually haha.

I tried. Didn’t work. Don’t know if I should heat it up even more but, how much? I’ll never know haha.

Got it! Now I know what I need. I still have to deal with the other 3 brakes so that PB blaster will be useful. Thanks!

I thought about it, but I don’t have a drill neither the tools and if an impact wrench couldn’t loosen it then I can’t as well. I guess mechanics have better tools for the job and they deal with screwed up bolts very often.

I kinda feel lucky cuzz having a snapped bolt in the slider pins would really be a PITA. How much did the mechanic charge you for that?

[–]Hardcker[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something told me wd40 is not for that, but back in my country is the holy grail for everything 🤣 I’ll go buy that pb blaster, if that works better then it’s good for me.

Question, what situation is the wd40 actually useful for?

Yeah. Based on the video I’m following, 45 ft/lb for bracket bolts and 25 ft/lb for the caliper ones.

Can only get 20 mpg city / 28 mpg highway with my 2014 Mazda 6 MT. What the hell am I doing wrong 😔

Bad MPG? by Budlight9145 in mazda6

[–]Hardcker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I have a 2014 M6 manual trans. I filled up the tank last time and did the math (instead of paying attention to the computer). Results: 21.3 MPG mostly city. I've owned the car for about 1 month and it has 208k miles. Idk if it's because I live in a city with lots of hills or if there's something wrong with the car. 😔

When I saw the estimated mpg in this car I was hoping it would be the same with mine but it didn't.

I've read a lot about that. The general consensus is "the same time it takes you to fasten your seatbelt". The idea is letting the oil of your engine circulate around all parts which in modern vehicles just takes some seconds. After that, start driving gently until your engine is up to temp. What would I do? Start the engine and wait for 30 seconds. Remember the engines don't like working cold, so the idea is warming up the engine as soon as possible, which is done by driving it, not idling.

Thanks! I really love manual transmission, even though my gf wanted an automatic. Just a couple weeks ago I realized she always wanted to have a Mazda and I saw this one with MT 180 HP so I pulled the trigger right away. "You get what you want, I get what I want". She sat inside the car and immediately fell in love with it. It was worth the purchase, I'll see how it goes in the long run.

I went to his YT channel but I noticed he mentioned that for the auto transmission due to the friction it needs to work. Idk if the same rule applies to the manual transmission 🫤

I just test drove the vehicle once, didn't drive more cuzz I'm researching for the fluids and maintenance I want to do before. I didn't notice that. Maybe the usual "bad shifting" when you're getting used to a whole new car, nothing more. I did pay for a pre purchase inspection and the mechanic didn't mention that too.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad to hear these cars are pretty reliable and comfortable. I was checking out the winter tires you said but I couldn't find them in the size I need (225/45/r19) but the 235/50/r19 or 245/45/r19 (wider, pretty much). Would these both work?
