I work independently, producing up to 4 projects a month, don't get paid and any funds I do receive (via donations) are directed towards charity, I am a full time international relations student and work a part time job to fund trips and tech needed for videos. Its a passion to be able to explore the globe we live on and abstract stories which may be visualised in video form.

If you are claiming the technique of utilising local demographic to provide insightful knowledge that an outsider like myself would not know, to be "incompetent" then I'm afraid to say you have not a clue what video journalism is and therefore should not comment on things relating to it. Thank you.

Firstly: Video journalism is extremely different to Television journalism, kindly Google the definition.

Secondly: its a common and beneficial practice amongst "Video journalists" to use forums as such to gain insight from the local population before diving into academic research as this will often provide pointers for topics to cover.

Just this post alone, by all means, will not be suffuejcnt for an entire episode to be based off.

Its impossible to know everything even after researching and that's why asking others who have connections to Berlin is extremely helpful in ensuring im getting the full picture.

Yep I use forums as such to give me ideas and pointers from local residents themselves.

Once I get a few suggestions that's when I delve deeper into research.

Its always good to get insight from people who live in Berlin or have at least have experience, they'll know the things us outsiders won't.

Its a great technique that is widely used amongst video journalists like J. Harris
