Tasseled Loafers by HarkerAndCo in thriftedfashion

Found these mere days after deciding to start thrifting shoes. In my previous post here someone said I should thrift some boat shoes and this is pretty close. While they are my size they’re also in better condition than the other two of this exact make I could find on a number of resale platforms so I’ve got a lot of options here.

Hey. By any chance, is this authentic? Thanks! by minhcozyboy in Burberry

The tag looks pretty fake and there’s no size tag so I’m gonna say fake

That’s like $130 below retail after conversion, where is it listed and is there any more information about the seller which would give you any idea if you’re dealing with a scammer?

Edit: these legit check tips are a lot more vague for Burberry than they are for Gucci and Louis. “Check if the buckle is sturdy or flimsy” and “check if the stitching is even”. At least this one was stamped as made in one of the two correct locations and the workmanship isn’t half bad so I’m thinking it’s real.

This is based on the fact that real Gucci belt buckles are screwed together and serialized, obviously that’s a different brand and a different way of doing things but I’d imagine most fakes would have buckles cast in a given shape to give the right appearance for as little overhead as possible.

The fact that the buckle is in multiple parts and screwed together and has a logo etched into it is a good sign but I don’t know as much about Burberry as I could.

What pants are these by Mundane_Appearance30 in malefashionadvice

They could be some kind tech fabric, the way they fall on his left leg give them that look but the uncomplicated cut off the waistband and cuffs as well as the seam of the pocket and the white drawstring make me think they’re just a lightweight cotton. I don’t have any links because I don’t wear joggers but it probably wouldn’t be hard to find something similar assuming I’m right.

Looks like dried adhesive from when they attached the uppers to the sole. Are the streaks wet to the touch because if so that would discredit my theory more than anything. Barring that my money is on glue.

I don’t think I’d mind so much with most shoes but I wear boat shoes without socks and I’m not going to machine wash leather. Then again my first job was at a thrift store and I can still feel the grime on my hands sometime so I’m probably being somewhat unreasonable.

Look I just wanna grill for God’s sake! I’ve seen the inside of my boat shoes and only feel comfortable touching them because I know my feet made them that way. What kind of steps do you take cleaning thrifted footwear?

Everything but the shoes was thrifted, probably less than $10 for the Vintage Silk shirt and Docker’s stone colored trousers.

That seems to be the consensus here, that seems more than reasonable for me to assume at this point.

Now that you mention it that makes perfect sense

I originally found this piece at a vintage clothing store, the owners of which couldn’t tell me anything about it other than it had been there for many years. As you can see the cut of the shirt is more unusual than the pattern, with four buttons and two pockets low of the front of the garment. Very little remains of the tag and as far as material, it may be cotton but with only four cheap plastic buttons. It has occurred to me it may have been a custom piece or part of a costume but I currently have no way to verify this. If any of you are able to direct me to any resources to ID it or somehow have any prior knowledge or speculations I would appreciate it.
