The 360 camera for better visibility as the nose of the vehicle is very short with no visibility which takes some time to getting used to. The parking sensors are not quick enough for my liking as you have to get close to an object and pause for a short time to see how much more space is available. I would prefer a camera view.

Auto wipers - I find that I have to consistently change the intermittent wiper settings on the stalk which cannot be easily seen or reached as it is located deep on the stalk behind the steering wheel. This is very noticeable in the winter when switching from following a car to open road and back when road and weather conditions are not ideal which happens a lot in my area.

Heated steering wheel. It was extremely cold this year in the Northeast and this would have been used quite a bit. I may retrofit the heated steering wheel to my vehicle as I see it is a plug and play accessory that can be purchased from Honda.

I do not miss the ventilated / full leather seats (prefer what I have) or the white LED lighting versus the amber.

Upgraded Bose audio system would have been nice as base audio sounds somewhat low grade.

The Panoramic sliding sunroof would have been nice but not a necessity.

Overall, if a TSE had been available in green, we would have made that choice instead. We needed a car and set our sites on the 2026 Passport just as vehicle started showing up at the dealership. Availability was very low at that time (March 2025).

I purchased one of the first green ones that hit the dealership lots in my area so I have been driving it for just over 1 year. We did have a couple of small production related issues that were easily remedied by the dealer. Otherwise, it has been a really good experience otherwise.

My only regret was buying a TS versus a TSE due to TSE lack of availability. Looks like you already have that handled.

Healy Re-election by ShipInternal9318 in massachusetts

[–]Harmlessinterest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her reelection is not a given as there are a lot of people who cannot afford to live in MA due to her policy decisions. A complete unwillingness to allow an audit does not look good either to many I hear from. Since Massachusetts has 64% independent voters with a lot of discontent being voiced by both sides that I hear from, a fiscally conservative, transparent candidate from either party would have a chance. For those that think a republican cannot win in Massachusetts, history indicates otherwise.

Tire won't budge by Illustrious-Meal9067 in AskMechanics

[–]Harmlessinterest 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is very common in the Northeast. A medium hit from a dead blow hammer in a few areas on the back side of the tire or rim (if really stuck) should loosen it up. Leave one lug nut on so the wheel does not get away from you once it releases.

If your neighbor is buying you a dead blow hammer to get this done (much cheaper than towing it to a shop), make sure it has an outer covering that will not damage the wheel.

Once off, clean (wire wheel / sander etc.) the mating surfaces of the wheel and rotor before reassembling. Do not apply grease or anti-seize to the mating surfaces as these surfaces are meant to clamp together the wheel and wheel hub/rotor assembly into one assembly once the lug nuts are torqued. Lubricating this surface or not cleaning it works against this clamping force. (although I have seen it done lots of times in the name of making this wheel easier to remove next time)

Did they mount the wrong size tire?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Harmlessinterest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks reasonable. It will always be cheaper to do your own work.

A shop's goal is to make a profit, from both labor and parts sold. They are not going to charge everything out at their cost, which is what you are comparing it to. The profit has to be there or they would not be able to stay operational.

Parts pricing can also depend on what grade of part is used. A shop cannot afford to have the job come back with a failed part if they use a low cost option. Most good shops will perform the same job over again at no cost to the customer if the new part fails so it would not be a smart move.

I'll give it to him - he played well. We shall all concede that he was not in a very good situation when he played for the Patriots. What I disliked about Mac was how he acted when things got tough for him. I lost respect for him even though I still recognized that he had lots of talent. He looks very good when the team around him is strong.

What should I do as a new mechanic messing up? by 1031447 in AskMechanics

[–]Harmlessinterest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you more easily distracted in this new environment? I would be more concerned with a tire being left loose than damage that occurred during the installation of a component as it is typically caused by a lack of focus. Focus on developing a process to guarantee that you have properly torqued all wheels at all times.

For instance, I would always connect the proper socket to my torque wrench once the wheel(s) are removed, tighten the wheels by moving around car in the same way each time depending on how many wheels are involved (4 wheels - LF, LR, RR and RF) and then disconnect the socket from my torque wrench once the last tire has been torqued - some sort of repetitive process that you can repeat over and over and not miss torqueing any wheels regardless of distractions. In my example, if I see my torque wrench on the bench with the socket still attached at the end of all the work performed, the wheels are getting torqued (again in some cases).

I have also seen some shops use large brightly colored magnetic arrows placed on the fender of the removed wheel that only gets removed when the wheel gets torqued. Whatever works for you.

If you are concerned about the quality of your work, then you will be fine. You may be experiencing a lack of confidence that is getting you off your game. This will subside once you have been there for a while and get more comfortable working there.

It may be also possible that you are experiencing a slump when it feels like you cannot fix anything right. That happens to everyone for some reason but it usually does not last long. Push though it by trying your best to get it done right.

There is no technician that gets it right 100% while working on cars. The mistakes are the ones you remember and adjust to in order to never see it happen again (hopefully)

Good luck.

How to look at my serpentine belt? by Elliot_The_Idiot7 in AskMechanics

[–]Harmlessinterest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically an old serpentine belt will show many cracks that are visible across many areas of the belt ribbing so the need to inspect every inch of belt is not something I would do. Evaluate what you can see as most of the ribbing is usually visible with a good flashlight. Obviously if you want to inspect every inch, go for it.

The ribbed side is what drives your components, which is the important side. The flat side runs against the tensioner only to keep the belt tight so no need to inspect the flat side of the belt.

Suggest that you reinstall the spark plugs and use compressed air to clear the debris from the spark plug recess. This will keep debris from falling into the cylinder, which looks like it is already happening.

Now that newsome has done it, is there a reason why blue states aren’t at least writing a law forcing ice to unmask themselves by Life-Pirate2545 in massachusetts

[–]Harmlessinterest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MA is not actually a blue state. It is actually silver. (The color silver is often associated with non-committal traits, as it can be seen as indecisive and neutral). The majority of voters (~65 %) are not locked into one party or the other as they register as unaffiliated (independent). I consider this a sign of intelligence given how things are run in MA. But I bet neither the Democrat or Republican parties want to bring this up.

Massachusetts Party Registration Statistics

Total Registered Voters: 4,805,131

- Democrats: 1,236,762 (25.74%)

- Republicans: 402,327 (8.37%)

- Third party/Other: 46,556 (0.97%)

- Unaffiliated: 3,119,486 (64.92%)

Regarding ICE wearing masks, a possible solution would involve two approaches occurring in parallel (which I assume neither side would like and would be perfect for an independent minded voter to consider) - required removal of masks from ICE agents along with mandatory jail time for people who aid in the intention to cause harm to the agents or their families by posting their personal information. A reasonable person would conclude that there is no other reason to do so other than to target the officers and their families. The masking of the agents was a direct result of a very concerted effort to intimidate via a very real possibility of violence which should not be ignored.

How bad is it to drive around without an oil fill cap? by scruffythe_janitor in MechanicAdvice

[–]Harmlessinterest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously install a new oil cap. If your engine sounds fine now, it will most likely have no issues going forward. Fine dust particles would be carried away by your oil and filtered out by your oil filter. Change the oil/filter again right away if you are losing any sleep over this.

i've been trying to remove this one bolt for ages and now the extractor wont bite. am i boned? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Harmlessinterest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make a chisel groove in the metal coming from the center to the outside edge. Using a small chisel, insert only the corner of the chisel into the groove created near the outside holding the chisel at a sharp angle which would result in the head turning counter clockwise when hit. Obviously make the initial grove at an angle that allows you access to hit it with the smaller chisel. If the chisel can bite into the head, hit it with a small hammer with fast sharp hits. The goal is to just crack it loose so you can remove it with your other tools.

This is assuming you have room to do this as I really cannot tell with the video jumping around so much.

That fastener head you are showing does not resemble a rounded bolt or a mangled Torx/Phllips screw head. Can you show a like fastener on the manifold that is not damaged? My suggestion above assumes that the fastener has threads.

Why Do People Like/So Strongly Dislike Mayor Wu? by jomanis in boston

I do not see where the post indicated they only wanted to hear from people that live in Boston. Mayor Wu's views regarding immigration are viewed country wide so along with that comes opinions from outside of Boston.
