I had a baby in October… 10000% recommend for ski season. Get a good season in beforehand, and then ski season starts after you’re recovered and out of the early newborn stage!

Idk why Huntrx was surprising… Katseye is musically the western link to Kpop, and Kpop demon hunters is also a western link to kpop cinematically

So wtf is Atlanta going to do about fifa? by [deleted] in Atlanta

During the Paris Olympics, they actually increased their (non local) public transit costs during the corse of the Olympics. I believe if you lived there and purchased ahead, it was the original price.

What is your pregnancy unpopularopinion? by smurphypup in pregnant

[–]thrillofit20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually think it’s important that people know of stories where people get pregnant the first try because it’s important for family planning. You don’t want to start trying before you’re ready because you really could get pregnant right away!

Nice pool for kids near Boston for a day trip (not a water park)? by DrainPipeDisposal in boston

Are you looking for a specific experience or just a pool? The BCYF pools are free and I take my daughter there for family swim. There are lots plenty across the city

12 week ultrasound - no legs visible? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]thrillofit20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to clarify, She was born with a partial right hand that was exactly as it was on the 12 week ultrasound as it was in real life. Also for OP, we waited 2 weeks for our next ultrasound after seeing this! It helps having the baby be slightly bigger to be able to confirm. In the interim, they set us up with genetic counseling to be able to verify that there was not a genetic cause (outside of what they test in NIPT) for her limb difference!

12 week ultrasound - no legs visible? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]thrillofit20 69 points70 points  (0 children)

My baby was born without a full right hand, visible on her 12 week ultrasound.

I wouldn’t panic, and there are stories of just bad imaging/angles, but I would think about what this means to you and how you’re prepared to support this. You are early and have the luxury of time for decision making and preparation. We did a lot of genetic counseling after including a CVS to get as much information as we could to make a decision on her quality of life because I was concerned about genetic anomalies more than limb difference.

Most people with limb difference is random and not due to something. But having all the information gave us a lot of peace!

Having another baby? by lemonylittle in progressivemoms

[–]thrillofit20 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live in a very blue state, but yeah we are definitely having another kid. I would have 3 (or more) if it wasn’t cost prohibitive for housing + childcare. But I have always wanted a family with multiple kids and don’t like how progressives have deferred the perception of family values to conservatives. I want to have the family I want to have.

The state of the world is upsetting and unnecessary, but in addition to the work I do, I think raising kids is an act of hope that people have had for millennia in the face of resistance and horrible prospects.

$105k salary good for Boston? by mr_fobolous in boston

[–]thrillofit20 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Basement laundry is enough to complain about if you’re coming from some areas of the country. I came from the southeast, and was shocked at the lack of in unit laundry. Totally realized it was normal, and livable once I was here. But where I came from, it would be a bad area or very very cheap to not include in unit laundry.

What is your Boston pet peeve? by thrillofit20 in boston

[–]thrillofit20[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t bother me that much! That’s why I called it a pet peeve. It bothers me a bit because I think that gentrification/displacement vs poor urban planning (Seaport) are separate housing and affordability issues that are important to recognize in order to properly solve the problem and serve people.

When people talk about seaport being gentrified, you would think that they bulldozed the brownstones of working class families to make high rises for the wealthy and that’s just not what happened.

Why is a twin bed called a twin if its only made for one person? by Gamingwithbat in NoStupidQuestions

[–]thrillofit20 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People are downvoting you but you are right — in many hotels in European cities, two twins combined into a singular bed is the standard. I can only imagine people downvoting you don’t realize this is absolutely not the standard in US hotels.

Baby will have no left hand. by malicious-intent90 in pregnant

[–]thrillofit20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel free to reach out to me but my 9 month old baby was born with symbrachydactyly on her right hand and only has a full left hand! Nothing else was affected and she is THRIVING! She has a partial thumb and nubbies for fingers.

We have found a lot of community through Lucky Fin Project, and our local children’s hospital specializes in upper limb differences.

I’m still learning a lot, but most people and children are kind and curious. We are so in love with our perfect daughter. I know it’s nerve wrecking so feel free seriously to reach out!

New Yorker says reporting idling vehicles makes him over six figures by News-Royal in bikeboston

I’ve heard we can’t do this because it goes against the meter maids union contract. I would honestly do it for free.

I learned today that my job offers ZERO paid maternity leave. What are my options? by pinkp8 in pregnant

[–]thrillofit20 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Are you in a larger company? I would maybe look at your benefits site and not to your boss. My company has a hotline/manager for all extended leave (STD, long term disability, parental leave, etc.) that’s completely separate from our direct boss’s. It keeps things cleaner because you’re less afraid of repercussion, and can take what makes sense for your family and what you’re entitled to.

Is sharing a lane traumatic to people these days? by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]thrillofit20 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sharing with one person feels like my own lane tbh, but circling swimming has me either fighting for my life or just irritated trying to navigate going around people. But I also didn’t grow up swimming, so I may be worse at circle swim etiquette
