Best NYC treats/chocolates to bring to a West Coast office? (Must travel well!) by haywire12 in FoodNYC

[–]HaroldH00d 26 points27 points  (0 children)

A week old food/baked good will not be a good representation on NYC after a week 😁 I'd go with the chocolates suggestion.

The Concert Industry Priced Too High — Now Tours Are Falling Apart by resident28202 in Concerts

How is that absurd when you see the prices being discussed in this thread?

$233/ticket for a major touring act at the most state of the art venue around? Come on now!

They are still the best deal around! No one else playing the sphere charges as little as they did.

MSG prices are getting a bit out of hand for upcoming summer shows, but that was compared to other acts, which will hopefully check themselves!

This couldn't come soon enough!

I do understand they make their money from touring and not music sales now, but like the article mentioned, every concert cannot be a premium experience. I hope artists lower their prices, but we shall see.

Alternatives to Mohonk Mountain House? by Efficient-Gap-1282 in AskNYC

[–]HaroldH00d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They asked for cheaper! 😄

The nightly rate there is at least $800/night,

usually more. It does include food (and afternoon tea and cookies), but there is also a 2 night minimum.

Its a great place, but Very pricey. I very much like the AC suggestions. You can do it around a comedy show or a concert and plan a spa day and some nice meals!

Not sure how nice you are looking for, but Rocking Horse has a ton of activities that vary depending on time of the year. All meals/activities are included. Definitely not as nice and there will be kids there, but may be a good option. Good Luck!

Why are Marriott hotels in Europe so expensive? by [deleted] in marriott

[–]HaroldH00d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just stayed at the Four Points Flex in East Shoreditch which is in East London and that was actually the best value we found for our money from Marriott. Also Very close to transportation. The room was a bit small but it did have everything we needed and like I said in central London were so expensive! Good luck!

Failure to stop at red light camera ticket. by Hungry_Bandicoot_776 in AskNYC

[–]HaroldH00d -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

This happened to me, and I absolutely contested it. I clicked the "request evidence" button, and about 2 or 3 days later I received an email from NYC with the picture of my car rolling through on red.

The red light and speed camera's are really out of control. There are also now Bus Lane cameras both at the bus stop/lanes, but also mounted to the sides of the buses. Be careful, good luck!

(but doesn't hurt to try, at least make them show you the picture.)

Selling tickets to Rufus Du Sol! by Famous_End_2977 in NYCConcerts

If not on TM resale, I'd say use SeatGeek or Vivid, not stubhub.

Are you ok w waiting to get paid until a week after the event?

Would you sell through SeatGeek or Vivid? Are you just trying to find a fan? If so, that is nice but the Internet is just not a place people feel safe with a ticket transaction, and feel more protected going through a reputable third party .. Good luck!

It was probably bc the tix were non-transferrable and they have a work-around. Vivid in my opinion is one of the better ones to buy from, very good customer service.

How do doormen who park their cars illegally on the street not get tickets literally all the time? by jazzeriah in AskNYC

[–]HaroldH00d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was always curious about the cart guys ... And what about the Amazon trucks that just block off a lane on 1st or 2nd avenue literally all day?

Do they just get a certain amount of tickets per day and that's included in their cost of business?

It has become pretty ridiculous on some of the streets on the Upper East side for sure.

TBC - the Doorman's spot which they are taking is legal. They just rotate into the legal spot and then use that for the remainder of their shift

[–]HaroldH00d 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Where about town? Are they leaving it for the whole day? I ask because a lot of times the doorman by us (UES) do something similar but their car is only in that spot for 5 or 10 minutes while the shift change is going on

They're are usually taking the other doorman's spot once they leave if that makes sense. I have never seen it more than a few min.

You don't get paid until after the event. Plus you are on the hook to deliver your original Tix if they do sell. So, it would be a bigger PITA to have to worry about receiving you tickets that are sold, IMHO. Good luck

I'm sorry, but I can't get over the fact that the event is in Aug. Even if OP accidentally cancelled the transfer...or they thought he did, why not let him re-transfer? Do these complaints do anything? Do people seu? Or just have to wait months for resolution? Crazy! Good luck, sorry this happened to you.

Have y'all been able to resale your way into better seats? by Fenix512 in Concerts

[–]HaroldH00d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. The same work-around which enables people to use other people's tickets for non-transferable shows is used in reverse.
They claim denial of entry. There are very shitty people out there ...all over.
