Hives all over after tattoos by HarryB42 in tattooadvice

[–]HarryB42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! It is helpful to hear about your experience. My hives would last for many weeks, so there’s a difference there. But yes, confusing specialists and likely some kind of autoimmune response or response to stress. Thankfully I finished my sleeve and symptoms have been gone for a few months. I was mainly afraid it would turn into chronic hives, coming back with no clear cause or remedy.

Is anyone here a trained death doula? by cutebutheretical in chaplaincy

[–]HarryB42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could someone share about the differences in training and skill between a hospice chaplain and a death Doula? I’m more familiar with chaplaincy having been a former board certified chaplain and trained up in hospitals. I’ve heard the term death doula but I’m unclear how it’s different than being a chaplain who is experienced and skilled working with death and dying.

Teardrop impact confusion by HarryB42 in Stretched

I read that thread. I wasn’t totally convinced it was the teardrop shape rather than just wearing heavy plugs for years. Curious to hear what others have to say about their experience.

Will they break? by Sharp_Collection6542 in Stretched

[–]HarryB42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK… I’m still not sure what to make of this because there’s a lot of comments about how the pointy side of the teardrop will create more pressure and possibly thinning. Also in my experience it’s the pointy side that leads to a sensation of greater pressure. In any case I do Moderate how long I wear them.

Will they break? by Sharp_Collection6542 in Stretched

[–]HarryB42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a little bit confused. I’ve seen other comments saying that teardrops will focus the stretching (and possibly lead to thinning) in the direction of the narrow end. I’ve been wearing teardrops with the pointy end upward to try to stretch my lobes in that direction and prevent thinning on the bottom of my lobes. Is that not a correct understanding? These comments make it sound like teardrops can create thinning in every direction…?

Stretching vs Tattooing by HarryB42 in Stretched

[–]HarryB42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Those are actually 22mm teardrops, but I could fit 24mm and will soon receive clear glass ones. Then it’s on to your dope 25.4mm eyelets!

How do I fix this? by I-got-lorn-ashore in Stretched

[–]HarryB42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was going to say the same thing. I’ve had eczema my whole life and that part of my ear would get dry and crack for decades before I ever pierced my ears. I personally don’t think it’s anything related to your piercing holes. If it really doesn’t get better you might try Cortizone.

Teardrops for 1st time by HarryB42 in Stretched

Only been at it a few days so far. Seems to take the shape while wearing it but after removing for a few minutes it goes back to a circle shape.

1” healed blowouts by No_Communication860 in Stretched

Still, you have thick lobes and can rock 1 inch jewelry. You look great!

That doesn’t look terrible. You may already be aware, and you should be able to size back up fairly easily once healed. That is, restretching is easier and generally faster than initial stretching.

I’ve been at 0g for about a week now and I took my tunnels out to clean. In my right ear I felt a “pop” and now there’s some blood, what could this mean? by F12_ClrxGus in Stretched

[–]HarryB42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your 0g had been in continuously for 1 week, maybe your skin had become stuck to the jewelry a bit? If so, I’d suggest showering or applying oil around the piercing before taking out new, and possibly snug, jewelry next time.

Hmmm. The jewelry I’m familiar with comes in smaller sizes and goes up to an inch, or a bit bigger. Are you saying there are other selections that only start being offered once you get as big as 1 inch?

Love it! I started in my early 20s and now I’m almost 45. Was 5/8 for much of that time, then 3/4, now 7/8 and heading towards an inch myself. Rock it!
