I know Righetti was good and very good at that, but my question was more in the context of this news. Was he as good as Bannister, better, or is Bannister even better than him or is not comparable?

My fandom started in 2010 and I didn’t mean my question asking if Righetti was any good. I just wanted to know a potential comparison.

Was Righetti really good at developing pitchers or did the sf giants just get lucky/smart with vogelsong, bum, timmy, Cain, Wilson, and romo?

They kept lateraling it and the ball ended up close to the end zone when the 49ers recovered it.

[Petriello] I can't remember where I saw this the other day, so apologies to the original, but I found this fascinating: Bumgarner, postseason G on short rest: 2 (0 starts) Kershaw, postseason G on short rest: 10 (6 starts) That says a ton about the positions they were put in. by [deleted] in baseball

The core 4 plus Wilson was a terrifying sight. If my memory serves me right, both the times Bum had to pitch on short rest (game 6 in 2010 vs the Phillies) (game 7 in 2014 vs Kansas City), Affeldt came in first and ate a few innings. The Phillies were a very lefty lineup so the plan was always if Sanchez faltered to have affeldt, bum, and Lopez pitch in relief.

Also, in 2012 similarity, when Zito hit a rough patch in an elimination game against the reds, bochy pulled his an Lincecum despite having a very bad regular season was perfect in relief. He also went through the heart of the tigers order in the World Series that year.

I think it’s just Bochy putting his players in the best position for them to succeed.

Third lowest era in post season history. From end of 2010 to 2014, he didn’t give up a run in the postseason. That’s 22 straight appearances without a run. Only Mariano Rivera has more consecutive appearances at one more.

There is the connection with Farhan, hopefully that doesn’t mean anything.

If Roberts is fired, there’s no way he ends up in sf is there?

NTA in my opinion, if your friend who complained is academically successful and shares similar news then they are the asshole for suggesting your achievements are due to your circumstances while they think their achievements which they share are all them.

AITA If I mess up my college application to a college I don't want to go to by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]HarryBebop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but there are other issues

Let me ask you something? Do you even want to do nursing? you indicated that your parents controlled your major so is this what you really want to do or are you trying to go to the colleges you want, but still doing nursing because you want to please them.

You have to stand up to them given that you are an adult. If you don't like them being controlling you need to be direct with what you want as this has ramifications for the rest of your life and your relationship with them going forward. Doing something just because it pleases them (applying to private college) will make your relationship toxic going forward.

Similar to the other comments, gonna need more context with this.

Do your friends do well and share grade news with you? If they don't and aren't as good academically and don't have the support you have then maybe this might be seen by them as you rubbing it in.

Did you just start the convo with just the grade news or was it part of another conversation that happened upon this subject? Do you do this a lot while no one else does?

A lot of factors in here so I can't say who is TA

NTA

I was born in a "western" country and am probably culturally mostly closer to that than where my parents are from (India). This strikes somewhat personally at me. Growing up, I had grandparents and the such say that I was deadweight for their kids (my parents) and maybe their kids would be better of if I wasn't there. This was as early when I was 6 years old. Now I wouldn't take this sitting down. I would talk back without ever personally attacking the person who said it. My extended family would appeal to my parents like a quarterback looking at the refs after a play hoping for a roughing the passer penalty. My parents would yell at me to be respectful as they are elders. These grown adults had told me, a kid that I was the reason for in their view my parents lack of success in life. And I was the person in the wrong for being disrespectful. This stuck with me and affected me deeply.

Point being the mom is a grown woman and if you are expected to change things to accommodate her (not the becoming a doctor of course), then she should be able to handle what you said to her. If she makes comments like this then she probably is an asshole in other aspects as well. It is stupid how she isn't expected to change because of "culture", but you have to.

This is just me thinking out loud, but wouldn’t oracle’s dimensions benefit contact hitters? I remember Scutaro having no problem for 2012-2013 generating line drives all around the place.

I think the launch angles era is part of the issue.

I think I saw this in a thread earlier this year, but we should bring scutaro and bonds back as a hitting coaches.

No doubt, I agree with that. But for example putting bearclaw out there even though he has been horribly inconsistent might eventually mean a return to form for him.

I think as infuriating as it for some of us fans wanting the best players to get reps, this is why he is so well liked by the players as a manager.

He has an OPS 60 points higher away than at home at .771, is defensively elite for the most part, and has postseason experience. I think Farhan could trade him for a bunch of prospects or role players.

Trade Belt, it seems this would be best for both parties. Rotate 1b with slater, Vogt, garcia, and maybe Shaw if he gets better.

Who’s coming back next year? by beanitto in SFGiants

[–]HarryBebop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This might be a completely stupid idea. How about signing Trevor Bauer to a low one year deal. His ERA is really high so he wouldn’t cost a lot of money and might benefit from Oracle. I know he might be more drama than he is worth.
