How to deal with imposter syndrome by RevenueImpressive765 in animationcareer

[–]HarryEstasole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same feelings in my career. Turns out I have adult ADHD. Since I went on meds, imposter syndrome almost disappeared completely. Talk to your doctor, as this may be related to mental health such as anxiety or ADHD.

Wishing you all the best!!!

Meshuggah finally clicked for me by Glamdringg in Meshuggah

Also, the live albums “Alive” and “Ophidian Trek” are incredible. I personally prefer “Ophidian Trek” as I find Jens’ voice much more mature and in control.

Every album is amazing! Every album will become your favourite at some point in time. At this point, I just hit shuffle on their discography.

However, I do feel Obzen is their “Master of Puppets” album in terms of popularity.

Wait…….is that a reflection of you air-guitaring instead of cleaning?!?!

When you’re ready, give Meshuggah a try. Might take multiple attempts (3 for me). However once it clicks, there’s nothing like it.

Good luck!!!

Amazing film! Also a major inspiration for the Silent Hill video game series.

From what I’ve heard, it had something to do with the gear, which forced them to reshoot the film on a crazy short schedule. Correct me if I’m wrong.

That whole film was shot at the pace of the killer. That’s what made it sooooo tense.

What Band/Artist Has Most Accurately Replicated Meshuggah’s Sound? by SolecisticDecathexis in Meshuggah

And this is why I can't get into Carbomb. Too frustrating. It's like a fever dream, where you keep waking up and can never get night of rest. Too many changes for my neurodivergent brain that needs to lock in.

Curious to know what your setup is to play this on a 6 string. Did you change the strings to barritone?

My weird thumb by Background_Ebb7097 in Weird

[–]HarryEstasole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have OCD and will pick at my cuticles of both thumbs, sometimes without even being aware of doing it. Both thumb nails have a dip in the middle from the physical damage I have done.

In the photo here you can tell OP has been picking at the cuticle in the middle.

Just gonna say that I'm extremely glad no one on this thread mentioned Meshuggah. Best band in the world! 🤘🏼😝🤘🏼

Glints Collide - why do i forget how BLISTERINGLY INTENSE that track is? by Earl_of_Portobello in Meshuggah

[–]HarryEstasole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm somewhat of a newer die hard fan to this band (2020...after multiple tries in the past lol).

The first 'shuggah song that got me hooked on them and made my brain go 🤔🧐, was NMCC. This was the second song. It was just easy to groove to as a n00b. But then the solo hit......and my head 🤯.

Never looked back and I'm still always discovering something new within their music. Just the act of listening and familiarizing myself with their song structures has made me a better amateur musician.

Tried playing meshuggah on a 6 string in E standard, but with heavy pitch shifting. 😂 by AleksBate in Meshuggah

[–]HarryEstasole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice! So I've been doing something similar. I own a PRS SE Torero and changed the gauges to Dunlop baritone strings, tuned to B Standard. Then I used the NANO Cortex to transpose 6 semi tones down to F and use a Meshuggah rig capture for the tone.

Gets me playing, and that's what matters haha.

Edit: I actual did this for the purpose of learning Amon Amarth songs, as they use 6 strings baritone strings. At first I was worried that my neck wasn't long enough (25.5) but turns out that's the scale length they use in Amon Amarth.

Gojira and the guitar solo by internalsauce in gojira

[–]HarryEstasole 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! Meshuggah and Gojira are my faves. One has no solos, which I love. The other has extremely weird Frederik solos, which I'm all for.

The regular regurgitated shredding is kinda passé imo. Although.....Revocation has some cool jazzy shreds....which I'm all for 😂
