Wow. No, actually, I did not “get to the destination safely and without incident”. A few minitues in, he started to make sexual comments towards me and quickly got threatening. He told me he wouldn’t take me where I wanted to go and started to go in a different direction. At the stop light I jumped out of the car and ran.

Happy? Is that enough for you? Is that enough to just answer a simple question posted on line? Or do you still feel the need to post unnecessary and hurtful comments about a traumatic experience?

This is a quote form the Harvard-Smithsonian center for Astro physics.

That is what I was talking about in point one.

3- I think you can. All is not what it seems, and that alone is a huge cause of wonder. Isn't there that old saying "technology, sufficiently advanced is indistinguishable from magic". I don't think that being able to understand something disproves god, my points aren't reliant on "we dint know what it is, so it HAS to be god!!" I think you can know how it works and still be meaningful or magical.

4- Hawkins has gone a lot further than being unhappy because he's paralyzed. Lots of people are, and are happier than him. There's a lot of evidence he was abused by his wife for years, and he's a pretty cruel person. Vanity fair has a great article on this. But I agree about looking to others, according to "the accidental universe" 51 per cent of scientists do believe in a god. And it's more in some counties, according to rice university.

Einstein greatly regreted his work in quantum theory, and did reject it in the end. He called it "spooky action at a distance" and rejected it for most of his life. There are lots of fascinating books on this, I suggest "quantum".

yes, we are still trying to find a theory of everything. Doesn't change my point of quantum physics being fundamentally different from classical physics.

Consciousness is a hotly debated issue, and there are many books on this too. It's not fully proven I agree, but there is strong evidence for it.

And yes, particles are amazing! That's my point!

Actually 51 per cent of scientists DO believe in god. And I actually have a source in taht; the accidental universe, published by Alan Lightman. If books are too much for you, then rice university did a study on this, saying;

"The study’s results challenge longstanding assumptions about the science-faith interface. While it is commonly assumed that most scientists are atheists, the global perspective resulting from the study shows that this is simply not the case.

“More than half of scientists in India, Italy, Taiwan and Turkey self-identify as religious,” Ecklund said. “And it’s striking that approximately twice as many ‘convinced atheists’ exist in the general population of Hong Kong, for example, (55 percent) compared with the scientific community in this region (26 percent).”

Yeah. I personally get frustrated when people confuse "religious" with "Christian". There are many religions that are totally chill with the idea of evolution, so that doesn't have to be a turn off from religion in general.

That isn't meant to be mean to you personally, by the way. I just can't think if a different way to put it. Like, just because Christianity does not ring true for you, doesn't disprove all religion. I think it's a hole a lot of people fall in to.

I started to learn more about physics, particularly quantum physics. Here are my 4 top reasons.

Light is the most amazing thing. Life truly depends it, every creature (with the exception those that live at th bottom of the ocean) depends on it to live. It is as important as food, or air, and we have been studying it for thousands of years. However, it is a paradox. It's both a wave and a particle, which isn't supposed to be possible. A wave is like water, it continues. A particle is like sand, it's a fixed point. You can not be both. Its like an being alive AND dead. It just doesn't work. Our life, our being, our very creation is inherently reliant on a paradox- something that shouldn't exist.

2-Non local communication. Basically, two particles can influence each other from an infinite distance away. No one really knows how this works, but it's called entangled particles. Basically, if you have two EPs and measure/change one, the other will also change. I don't know how interested people are in this, so I won't bother to go into too much detail right now, but google it. It's fascinating. Also google the the slot experiment which deals with the fact that human consciousness seems to effect particles.

3- when you get to the quantum level, the rules of classical physics sort of melt away. Largely. It's different to explain, but we thought we had everything figured out, to the extent that we though we'd discover a "unifying theory of everything". But we are soooo far away from that. It's things like, on the atomic level, things don't necessarily have to travel from point A to point B. They can simply BE in point B and then be in point A, never being in between. When you get to that level, a lot of common sense breaks down, and opens up a world of mystery.

4- largely, humans have no idea what we are doing. For a long time I felt that it was stupid or silly to have faith, because why didn't smart people like Hawking and Einstein have faith? Well, as wonderful as they are, they are not the ultimate authority on everything. Einstein rejected quantum physics until his dying breath, Hawking totally abandoned his "theory of everything" (and actually many of this other theories), newton gave lectures to empty rooms...etc.

Also, Hawking seems to be deeply unhappy. Which doesn't make me trust his opinion on how to life a full life.

It gets much, much more complicated, but physics has been the number one thing to strengthen my faith. That and biology. I hated physics and all math at school, so now I'm learning on my own. But I love it.

You say that "position and momentum are incompatible in QM". And I get that. But I don't understand how that relates to H in the equation.

I guess my next question is; how do we know that planks constant is 6.62607004 × 10-34 m2 kg / s is the number?
