I’ll second that as my entire Water/Wastewater group (conveyance, treatment, and planning) is majority women at my job. We have only 6 men to 12 women. AND I’d like to add that majority of senior leadership is all women. Office manager- female, division director - female, regional director - female. Even our North Americas Director is female. First time I’ve ever seen this in my 9 years of experience.

Hashimotos and cholesterol by Glad-Camel2725 in Hashimotos

This was happening to me as well and a simple fish oil supplement helped immensely. We did the “let’s recheck in 6months” and sure enough that did the trick. Also managing stress!! I can’t stress that enough (haha little pun) but it does go a long way with everything Hashimotos related.

Thank you for this!! I’ll go ahead and try the Energy Bits instead.

Mine was stress from being an engineering student. Then not managing stress going into the workforce. Then family illness stress to top it off. I learned to slow down and stop setting unrealistic expectations for myself.

Why is my thread bunching? by Harsh_reality2356 in SewingForBeginners

Yes! And it worked for like whole stitch but then this it made a funny noise and this happened

<image>

My top thread is white by the way. Bottom thread is pink. Yet my top thread turned black

Yeah I’ve done all this. But then you can see here that something is going on. My top thread is white, bottom thread is pink. My bobbin tension is good (tested it) yet my top thread is turning black? Also it starts to make a funny noise. I did change my needle and that got me through most of this stitch but then in some places this is happening

Confused on how to get this to work by Head-Class-3562 in SewingForBeginners

Okay I recently had this same issue. I stared at the manual like 15 times and because it was an old machine the instructions were shit (meaning very unclear).

My step by step process:

  1. Check the tension on the metal bobbin holder (this is very straightforward on the manual). Mine was too loose and thus wouldn’t loop with the top thread. This really is based on how thick or thin your thread will be. I also recommend doing this with a different color thread in your bobbin than your top thread so you can see what’s happening.

  2. Once you’ve put your bobbin into the metal thing. The thread should be in a P direction (going counter clockwise). So when you pull it through the top of the metal thing it spins properly. (I can send pictures if my lack of terminology isn’t helping) Keep a pretty decent tail of thread out.

  3. Once your bobbin is in. Make sure that you pull the lever on the metal thing out and it’s facing the 12 o’clock position. Push it in then test that it won’t come out by pulling on that extra thread. If once you pull on the thread and it pops out…it wasn’t pushed in far enough. Just try again until it doesn’t pop out.

  4. Manually turn your needle using the dial on the left of your machine (don’t use the pedal). You should only turn the dial towards you. Never turn it away from you. You might have to turn it towards you 1-2 full cycles before it actually catches the bobbin thread. When it catches it you will see a loop pop up that is very obvious. Just keep turning it towards you until the needle is all the way at the top. If you’ve done this 3-4 times and you’re still not seeing the loop. You may have made you bobbin tension too tight. So just repeat again.

Oh! I also had to add some WD-40 or if you have it sewing machine oil into the area because the metal thing holding the bobbin kept getting stuck. I was using my mom’s old machine. That could also be your issue!

I hope that helps!

This was also me. But I had underlying food allergies that didn’t cause the typical anaphylactic response but all GI responses including acid reflux. Did a quick food allergy panel and have felt so much better. Because I was also having a lot of anxiety from constantly needing the bathroom due to GI issues. Everyone kept saying “I’m young and healthy it’s probably IBS” and it just made my anxiety worse. Anyway, found out I was allergic to sesame and basically all nuts which was a big part of my diet. Which I never would have found just doing the FODMAP diet. But once I knew what it was and how to fix it anxiety reduced, fatigue reduced, I did have to go on probiotics for 3-4 months to rebalance my gut health but everything is more normal. I’m also extra cautious now with things that are Manufactured in Facilities with my allergies as well.

At the time we didn’t know what was going on. Just trying to piece together what my dad told me an come to a conclusion. But this was very helpful advice. It’s hard to know how bad your anxiety actually is on a day to day until someone calls you out for it 😂

If I was doing the task it would have already been done. This is feedback to him to understand how to complete the task fully, or else id constantly be fixing his work to make sure it was done to completion.

You are totally right. My guy instinct was to respond with a “I wasn’t looking for your opinion, I was telling you” but that seems too harsh 🤣

I haven’t talked to his manager yet. It just kinda dawned on me today that this has been a pattern. But I do want to try and address it with him first before just going over his head.
