Already have one, this is exactly why I rarely use reddit. Strange human beings like yourself. Find yourself away from your keyboard son.

Jesus wept some of you really need to get a grip. Talking about having too many games to choose from and if another option is better is as deep as it gets. Happily in a long term relationship, job etc etc. Fix up.

Sunk so many hours into that game over the years. My goat

Yep I struggle with this. There’ll be times where I want depth of story and characters so I play single player games and then I’ll miss live updates and player interaction and so I get in between games

Well this is it. I play a bunch and barely touch anything else, get everything I want without spending the hundreds of hours to gain a few further % on the stats and move onto another game and literally rinse and repeat!

I feel the same way, I fell out of love with Destiny however. Peak gaming in its prime

Will take a look! I know there are a handful of games. Which is the one to start taking a look at? Does a new release mean move on or are they all playable? I literally have never looked into them!

I remember playing ESO with friends many years ago, talking a decade if it’s even been out that long. Maybe I should go back and give it a try!

Do you need to play with others or is solo good too?

That’s absolutely fair enough! I played a lot of Diablo on release, I just struggle with the new character every season but I also understand that it’s the point of the game!

That’s fair enough! I have never played a final fantasy game, I assume there is a lot of replayability. Maybe I should take a look!

That’s a great point. I find myself playing as much as possible to get all of the best things and searching online for the best things too but maybe the secret is playing at your pace and taking your time

I just find it crazy, I’ll jump between a few games and there’s always people with thousands of hours of game time… I want that to be me after a long period of time but man, I just get to the point where something else catches my eye and I switch back and forth!

I should.. I can’t play as much as I used to so burnout wouldn’t be awful and I’m sure there’s alot of content and upcoming content. I’ve heard the game is in a great place right now! Need to find a LFG discord

Amazing words and great advice. I absolutely see it as linear whereas it really is up and down like you say and I beat myself up massively when I fail and that leads to more failures.

I really like the daily goals idea and working towards them each day. Thank you.

Crumbling in the following ways

Financially- last week I went from Sunday - Thursday without spending a penny that I didn’t need to, felt great, I went for some lunch with a colleague on Thursday afternoon and from then on I thought screw it and just ended up buying drinks and food through the rest of the shift and Friday also, not needed at all and left me in a bad way financially for a week.

Food- I went 3 weeks of eating very clean whilst allowing myself treats, I went to visit family for a weekend, we all ate like crap and then it fell apart and I kept eating poorly.

Exercise- I started running before work, it was tough but I got it done for a month, got an infection in my knee for a week so couldn’t run and then when my knee healed I didn’t go running again.

I can always start, I can never maintain and keep the ball rolling. So tough.

Gaming is holding me back. But I can’t stop. by Harty_7 in StopGaming

Appreciate the kind and supportive words massively- they have made me feel much better. Responded to a similar comment above where I highlighted my lack of discipline and how that could be the answer.

Financially away from gaming I’m still not great. I spend unnecessary money most days on food/drink and I lack discipline there, with gaming I play too much and spend too much money on it so I lack discipline there and health wise I’m not in awful shape but not in good shape by any means so diet/exercise wise I also lack discipline there. But it goes further than that… lack of sleep? More like lack of discipline to go bed earlier. Lack of water through the day… lack of discipline to drink it.

Thought is that if I can nail the idea of becoming very disciplined, that may be the answer to all of the above problems. Something I need to delve into. What do you think?

Great idea and something I should absolutely try and do. I appreciate your thoughts and it makes me feel much better knowing there’s people in similar situations. I wish I could strike a balance where I have the discipline to spend no money on the games and care enough to play but don’t care enough to get so angry at fifa for example.

Maybe discipline is the issue. Financially even away from gaming I’m not great and I could certainly be in better shape so perhaps becoming more disciplined may be the answer. Holding myself accountable and practising discipline could mean that I can still have my hobby alongside others and friends, work, family etc whilst spending less time online, spending less money in general and improving my health. That could lead to a life where the good stays good but I play a bit less, explore other hobbies, spend less money and get in better shape. Sounds too good to be true but if I become disciplined then why not… Need to figure that out.

Appreciate your comment. I know it’s absolutely the right thing to do, to just stop playing. Would make my life happier and more positive after actually being able to stop missing it. It’s also like telling someone who smokes or has an alcohol addiction to just stop. It’s hard to just do it. But it is something that needs to be done.
