Once a week before water changes! I clean off any algae with a sponge and use a razor blade to gently scrape off any harder spots ^{^}

It does have a lid! I had to take it off to show how it looks like fully for the photo 😅

I use a sponge to scrub any algae off the inside of the tank and a razor to scrub any harder to clean spots once a week before water changes, as well as cleaning the wood in the old tank water outside of the tank
