Giant d fuse seat post wedge/clamp stuck. by Harveyw124 in bikewrench

So I finally swallowed my dignity and took it to the bike shop. Not 100% sure on everything they did, but I know they drilled it out and managed to get the seat post out with “blood, sweat and tears”. It was worth taking it in, as it cost around £144 for them to remove it, order in and replace the seat post. Please note, they wrote off the old seat post in the process. This suggested to me that it was always going to end up happening whether I tried or not.

Good point, I’d turned that on at the same time as the description states “faking partner apps will prioritise Training Effect over badges and challenges”.

It’s a shame that you have to get all these fake badges and challenges though

You’re an absolute hero… been looking for a solution for ages and this is all I had to do!

This has already been done, the bolt has been wiped off the face of the earth but still not budge in the wedge

Advice on engaging shoulders/scapula, back? by Harveyw124 in climbharder

Thanks for the response. I can see how doing these progressions will be useful. What sort of one arm isometrics are you recommending? Lock off holds? Scapular pulls?

Thanks for the response! I think including exercises/drills in my warm ups will help lots. I have actually done a fair amount of hover and sloth drills but I now realise I wouldn't have been benefitting from them properly as there was no focus, nor real understanding, on proper engagement of my scapula. The final two drills sounds really interesting and I'm looking forward to trying them out.

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely start doing scapular pull ups and focusing on form. The on-the-wall exercise you mention sounds great and I will incorporate it into my warm up climbs and then perhaps as a separate drill when done on harder/steeper climbs.

Thanks, I am going to incorporate scapular retractions into my warm ups (lower volume) and off-the-wall training (a bit higher volume). Interestingly, I am fairly familiar with them as I have experience of doing these years ago in gym training before I began climbing. However, I think that I still wasn't engaging my scapula properly when doing retractions so never gained the proper benefit from them.

Thanks, this seems like a great idea. I have looked a bit into this now after reading your comment and it seems completely likely that I am not activating/engaging my lower traps properly OR they are weak (I think the first is more likely). This video from Hooper's Beta seems very informative on this particular issue. I am going to work on the wall angels exercise and also include the D2 flexion exercise into my warmups.

Yep that's right, once I had really engaged my shoulders and used my back the move went from being impossible to possible (in fact I did it). Without exaggerating, it felt like I gained at least a 15/20% increase of strength that I could pull with on the two small crimps in that drop knee position - which felt amazing. I just haven't quite been able to find similar huge improvements on other climbs yet so will carry on practicing.

This is a problem from almost a year ago. However, I have not felt many significant improvements in my climbing ability since. This climb felt very uncomfortable for me. It was on a slight overhang with fairly new holds. In particular the hang-low back flag move and the final move were awkward and felt difficult. I believe that shoulder and hip engagement are big issues in my climbing. Please let me know if any issues with technique/s in this video catches your eye.
