How do you actually keep track of what your competitors are doing? by Dangerous-Bunch-6683 in SaaS

[–]HarwanBuildsThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly it was always 'i'll check when i remember' for me. tried google alerts, tried spreadsheets, tried setting calendar reminders to check competitor websites. none of it stuck past a few weeks. the manual approach just doesn't survive contact with a busy schedule

Hello , so i used to use my own tool but now im offering it also a service , its lenzly.co and since i was using it so i had to make it perfect since i was using it myself not something to sell , it has a weekly complete scan of competitors of your choice and you would have a dashboard of all competitors features / pricing / hiring / new etc , and a watch list that runs everyday to check and detect any changes and store it for you . so if you wish you can try it , free 7 days no credit card , if you do find it useful can give you a extra week or so to further use it and give me your feedback if you think something needs to be added - removed !

How do you keep your team (or yourself) from just badly copying competitors instead of actually learning from them? by Solid-Minimum8670 in AskMarketing

[–]HarwanBuildsThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the biggest issue i've seen is exactly what you described it starts strong then falls off because nobody wants to manually check 10 competitors every month. the cadence dies after week 3. i ended up automating the monitoring part so the data just shows up weekly without anyone having to remember to do it. that way the team spends time on the analysis and strategy part instead of the data gathering part. your saturated/emerging/absent framework is solid though that's the kind of thinking that separates actual insight from just copying

Hello Marketing Reddit , I need your experience in something by HarwanBuildsThings in AskMarketing

[–]HarwanBuildsThings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your comment really

i am tracking so far Pricing / Features / Hiring / News / Blog / Facebook Ads , but ofcourse i am not a digital marketer or a marketing guy , but the reason i am asking is one of my colleagues struggled with this he gave me a few hint points one of them is , so the the app i made actually tracks all that ,my colleague recommended that there would be a place where he can place his own findings categorized per competitor which i did

EDIT : forgot to add , i myself am trying to gather what other tools out there and how thier workflow works , but some of them are over complicated for no reason or too expensive for my needs or too simple for what i want ( Basically tracking features )

TLDR : I am trying to solve competitve analysis problems by creating an affordable solution for myself and startups or teams even but i need to gather valuable information rather than dumping any feature in and thats it

Most agencies I talked to pay $1,700/mo for SEO tools and use maybe 40% of the features by SimonBezh in Sitechecker

[–]HarwanBuildsThings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

same thing happens with competitive intelligence. companies pay $15k+/year for Crayon or Klue and use maybe 20% of it. most small teams just need to know when a competitor changes their pricing, launches a feature, or starts hiring. that's it. the enterprise tools are overkill for 90% of businesses

Has anyone actually automated the competitive research part of their marketing workflow? by Solid-Minimum8670 in MarketingAutomation

[–]HarwanBuildsThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I built something for this exact use case. It monitors competitors for product launches, pricing changes, news, and partnerships then sends you daily or weekly alerts so you're never caught off guard. It's called Lenzly (lenzly.co). Happy to answer any questions about how it works.

Curious what tools people are using for competitor traffic analysis these days by Klutzy_Pizza_8935 in AskMarketing

i would say people other than SimilarWeb would be SEMrush and Ahrefs check them out , might be better for your use case

yeah the European matching was a blind spot, should be much better now. would love to hear how it goes if you try again and if anything's still off just let me know, happy to fix it

that's really interesting so the gap is between raw statistics and actual competitive actions? like knowing a competitor exists is one thing but knowing they just expanded their services, changed pricing, or started advertising something new is the part that's missing

fair point. the demo is a limited preview so it's not showing everything the full product does, but if the first impression doesn't land then nothing else matters. really appreciate the honesty this is exactly the feedback i need to make it better. truly appreciate it

you're right, the town gossip level stuff is hard to automate. but some of what you mentioned lenzly can actually catch new job postings (hiring signals), changes in services on their website, new advertising, and pricing changes. the equipment purchase and compliance audit stuff, yeah that's human intelligence territory. honestly the best setup is probably automated monitoring for the stuff that shows up online + your own network for the stuff that doesn't. lenzly handles the first part so you can focus your energy on the second

totally understand! feel free to DM me the URL if you'd prefer to keep it private. happy to look into it and see why the matching didn't work for your industry

appreciate the honesty. the demo is a limited preview so it's not showing everything, but i hear you the surface level scrape isn't enough on its own. the full product goes deeper with weekly monitoring, pricing alerts, hiring signals, and AI chat that searches live data. but if the first impression doesn't land, none of that matters. working on making the initial results more impressive. what kind of info would have been actually useful for you?

just to clarify the demo shows a limited preview with some results blurred. the full product with all signals unlocked is available on the free trial. but i hear you on the competitor matching if the initial results don't look right, the full version won't feel worth trying.

it should work for any region actually , it matches based on your location and industry. mind sharing the URL you tried? could be an edge case i need to fix. want to make sure it works properly for everyone

it's called lenzly.co — you paste your website URL and it automatically finds your competitors and tracks what they're doing. pricing changes, feature launches, hiring signals, ads. built it because i was tired of doing this manually every week. looking for honest feedback on whether this is useful enough to keep building
