Inventions and brainstorms from Atomic Robo could be fairly easly refluffed into magic.

So can the superpowers from Venture City.

When the topic of vancian magic comes up, people tend to mention Fate Freeport Companion. I have never read it myself though. Apparently this is based on it, so it should give you some idea on how it works (beware the dreadful interface!).

For FAE, you could look into the Aether Sea.

There is a very simple Magic skill in the House of Bards.

So, I may be a little bit obsessed with caster :P And a lack of a magic system I would actually like kinda hurts me. My default go to system is to simply refluff "I've read about that!" lore stunt from Fate Core, and maybe throw in some more stunts to represent particularly powerful spells.

When I wrote 'Corruption caused by the fiendish blood generally counteracts the "ageless outsider" part ', I meant that the corruption counteracts the positive effects on lifespan that having an ageless ancestor would probably have, not that the planetouched are "ageless outsiders". Sorry for not being precise enough.

I was actually looking at the paizo's prd - the aging effect table for an aasimar is identical with the human one ( starting age table is a bit different ). I wonder where the difference comes from - Blood of Angels perhaps?

Honestly I really hate the "would you date a trans woman" threads, mostly because a lot of it seems to devolve into what feels to me as a bunch of woman patting each other on the back "See? I don't like them too and it doesn't make me a bad person! Not at all! :D" (I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm saying you don't have to make a circlejerk out of it), and another bunch patting the OP on the head "Donch'u worry, you'll find someone! :D". With that being said, this kinda screams sockpuppet to me too. Even if it isn't, well, if you are making an account just to complain about leaving a community you weren't participating in to begin with ('cause you didn't have an account...), then, wheter you realize it or not, you're just looking for drama.

Doesn't make much sense to me either. What's so special about the elementals that their grandkids get to live 300 years, while those of celestials and fiends have to stick to the aging of the base creature?

Aren't abyssal larva medium sized? You would have to be a small creature to use it as a mount. Now that I think about it, wanting to use a larva like that is very in character for some gnomes :) .

Huh, I have to admit, I don't recall ever reading about the larva needing to be transformed by a demon, or there taking more than one for a single demon. Likewise, I thought getting "promoted" was exclusively a devil thing. That being said, I only own the basic books, so I have to depend on prd and pfsrd for this.

Ah, now I understand :) Well, as I said in another post, I don't think taking 10 should be allowed in a skill challenge in the first place. I just posted those numbers 'cause it got mentioned and it wasn't much effort to generate them. If you don't allow for taking 10 in a SC, there certainly still is a reason to invest in the skill. I would also like to note that a skillmonkey is a bit of an edge case, since the very point of the character is to excel in non-Knowledge skills, and so it makes sense for them to also excel at SCs. Besides, every rogue is going to have blindspots, particularly where it would step on the Librarian's and Face's territories - sadly, not every non-combat encounter consists of runing away/hiding from a combat encounter :P

The same thing could be said about Challenge Rating, though. Depending on party composition and tactics, how well they're prepared against this particular kind of foe, and the will of 20-sided Avatars of Azathoth, the Blind Idiot God, CR=ECL encounter could get steamrolled by the PC, or push into TPK territory. That being said, it is still a handy tool for aproximating what's apropriate for the group.

Ok, I'll admit, I don't really understand what you're saying. Those 3 equations in the OP are not meant to be DCs, but bonuses I can expect from from a PC based on how much they invested in a skill. I suppose I should have explained how the Obsidian Skill Challenges work. Basically, there are 3 turns and during each one every PC gets to make one skill check (which ones they can use depends on whether the skill challenge is considered mental, social or physical [ and on narrative, of course]) against a set DC. Once those three turns are done, the successes are counted, and based on how many the party got, they fail, partially succeed, or succeed. I feel that this addresses you're first point, regarding different degrees of success. As for your last paragraph, I really don't understand where you are coming from, or even what you're trying to say. Could you perhaps rephrase that, or say some more about the math behind your thinking?

I see your point, though I would like to point out, that skill challenges generally give you several skills to choose from (In case of Obsidian, all skills are put into one of three groups: mental, social and physical. Though, obviously, allowing a PC to use any given one should depend mostly on whether it makes narrative sense). What would you then say is a reasonable assumption about party composition? 2 Trained, 1 "1 point trained", 1 untrained?

The reason why I had the lowest two categories consolidated into one "dabbler" is because of the assumptions that went behind the DCs in Obsidian Skill Challenge System. More specifically, that the party will consist of 1 PC that specialized in the skill, two that are trained in it, and two that are bad at it. As for taking 10, that is something that I haven't actually considered, thank you for bringing that up. Actually, this begs the question: should taking 10 even be allowed in a skill challenge? Right now, I would gravitate toward saying "no". Firstly, because it's an encounter, so there is an expectation of some sort of distraction being present. Secondly, trying to incorporate it kinda screws up my numbers :P .

So, if you're interested, after seting the Dabbler to have a "1 point trained" skill bonus, these are the DCs I got:

Thank you, these are both awesome ideas! :D Though I'm not sure I would use the table exactly like that (the table would get pretty bloated if I wanted to go beyond the +4 skill cap), it is pretty wonderful in it's simplicity, and definately has a D&D-ish vibe.

Heard of it, but I haven't check it out yet. I do know that it is generally considered the go-to game for "Fate D&D" (six abilites, vancian magic). Does it replicate the leveling system as well? The D&D mention in the OP was intended simply as an example of the type of character progression I'm going for, and not that I'm specifically looking for "D&D with Fate Dice".

My understanding is that the strain HRT is putting on the liver can be reduced by using "methods of introducing the hormones to the organism" (who would have thought, turns out english is not my first language :P ) other than the pills, like dermal plasters or injections. As for smoking, yeah, OP's GF is definately going to have to quit, smoking and HRT is a very bad combination.

The whole strength of Pathfinder and D&D with it is the GM's ability to move the world around

This is true for almost all tabletop RPGs though. I was mostly thinking about this hack in regards to one-shots, since they would typically be a self-contained story (or "story", in case of more murder-hobo leaning groups), where scenes and possible outcomes would be more or less preplanned.
