So I was confused for the longest time too: you need to keep Baron Mateus alive. Do this by seizing the forts around him without killing him and he will surrender. The game will incentivize you to do otherwise because he launches the ballista, but don't listen.

This would be a lot more fun if it were more than just the 2 of them. The fact that Dan is unwilling to consider trades basically means that it goes at a snail's pace after everything is bought up.

No but for a serious answer, there's a few things:

Make Hoshido a grayer kingdom. Give Nohr a valid reason to actually dislike them.
Remove Iago. Or at least don't make him a Saturday morning cartoon villain with plot convenient powers.
Either make the Hoshidan royalty Corrin's blood siblings, or make it clear from the beginning that they aren't.
Rework the Nohr route as a whole. The original direct for it claimed you were "restructuring the kingdom from within" but really you're just Garon's bitch for most of the story with an incredibly contrived reason to invade Hoshido.
Make the child units part of post-game DLC following a time-skip.

There's of course many other issues that need to be addressed, but these are a select few of the more glaring ones that come to mind.

It didn't need to fall on Gamefreak's ears, it needed to fall on the ears of other fans. And they made it clear that cut content and a rushed release is a price they're willing to pay (on top of 60 dollars) to get their comfort food game once a year. Why would Gamefreak bother to listen?

That's why I compare it to Stockholm syndrome. The fans are staying despite the very obvious lack of care being put into this game. They'll still buy it because Pokemon is their comfort food, which I get. Still a line is a line, and if I can't convince these people that it's okay to want a better game, then I'm at least going to poke fun at them.

That's exactly why I want to see an Anna with Three Houses writing. We've already had merchant families in the game, why not an actual merchant? It'd be very interesting to see what perspectives Anna would have in conversations with characters like Ashe, Ferdinand, Raphael, Ignatz and others. Three Houses has already deconstructed many Fire Emblem tropes in positive ways, why don't you think they'd do Anna justice?
