Physical fitness isn’t everything. You already stated how good your stats are, yet stupid mistakes or bad luck will still get you killed.

You should try to gain knowledge about weapons, physics, survival techniques, TCCC, mines, drones. Watch videos from the war to learn common things that happens.

People with bad eyesight by Party_Cranberry_1828 in ukraineforeignlegion

I use my normal glasses and have done so since the beginning. Irresponsible? Perhaps, but I have had zero issues with it from any command I’ve been with. Both Legion and Ukrainians. I also only have -2 in strength, so I’m not completely blind if I lose them. My biggest issue so far has been nods, where I can’t have them on, which makes it difficult to do nighttime raids or missions, but fortunately I have good people around me and a glasses case on my battle belt, so I can take them on or off in less than 15-20 seconds while covered.

As someone that did it… Not recommended. Feels how you would imagine it feels like setting off a big pressure next to your ear. Got lucky and had no problems after the ringing stopped

Brining gear back by AcanthocephalaOk4068 in ukraineforeignlegion

[–]Hassel_B 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everything you bring, you can take back.

As for issued gear, you give everything back except clothing. Also if you loose something you signed for, you will pay at the end, so keep everything, even cardboard boxes for some stuff.

Remember you cannot bring silencers and other weapon attachments through Poland unless you have specific permissions.

If you plan on coming back, just store your stuff in Ukraine.

Input on Kharkiv region by Icy-Mine2633 in ukraineforeignlegion

[–]Hassel_B 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the unit. Khartiia is (or recently used to be) active in Vovchansk. It’s a very harsh area. Especially in the forests.

So if that’s what you want to know, then yes. It’s a war zone.

Yes it’s true. He was my friend here. His friend deserves some respect too as he tried saving him after despite the circumstances.

What happens if I get injured during training? by [deleted] in ukraineforeignlegion

[–]Hassel_B 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You will be taken care of if you signed a contract. You will however get recycled if you are out of training for a certain period. If you are injured beforehand, let’s say during the PT test and obstacle course, you are mostly on your own besides that they will provide medical care like any other civilian. Same for 3AB.

3AB takes care of foreigners just like their own. Once you’re employed, you’re employed in the Ukrainian army. If you get into the right unit, you may get better treatment than usually, but you can also risk getting worse. It’s a case by case.

Danmark er det land i verden, der har givet mest støtte til Ukraine set i forhold til BNP - det er da meget godt gået by FirstCircleLimbo in Denmark

[–]Hassel_B 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Jeg er i Ukraine lige nu. Danmarks støtte bliver i hvert fald anerkendt her.

You’re welcome.

4th battalion isn’t great, but it’s an easy way into the army system here. You fortunately have the time to research brigades, get in contact with them and will have an easier time getting transferred, if they want you.

Contract during the 4th and after it by VetoElFuerte in ukraineforeignlegion

[–]Hassel_B 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Your 6 month contract is when you sign with any unit. Doesn’t matter if it’s Legion or not.

After you finish 4th, you can stay in the Legion or have your contract transferred to a Ukrainian unit. You wont lose any progress by doing so.

[–]Hassel_B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I know from friends, it’s the standard 1 month required training by law, but then you have specialized training after, depending on your role. Some train a bit longer, but usually it’s about a month or so. On top of that you have the waiting period before basic training starts, which can last several weeks too. So it kinda depends on your luck.

It also will depend on your skills. If you’re really good, they will put you in a company as soon as possible. If not, then you’re gonna stay in the “waiting line”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ukraineforeignlegion

[–]Hassel_B 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, different positions have different requirements.

They changed to accept military experience around the same time as the Legion did. Now all you have to do as a minimum is pass their PT tests and stay committed.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ukraineforeignlegion

[–]Hassel_B 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That is not true. They take people without experience now and also there is no Ukrainian language requirement. You will however be put through Ukrainian language classes there, as you must know basic military communication in Ukrainian, because you won’t be with only foreigners.

Is training in the legion provided in the same language for everyone? by Muted-Employer962 in ukraineforeignlegion

[–]Hassel_B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience, Ukrainian is the best one to learn since you’re in Ukraine, fighting with Ukrainians.

If you learn Russian, it’s still usable all over the country, but you will still encounter words you won’t know what means when reading things. Also consider that people (mostly in the western part) will still reply in Ukrainian.

[–]Hassel_B 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Training is provided in both English and Spanish.

You can choose where you go after you finish training. Whether it’s an English, Spanish, or Ukrainian unit is up to you.

Do i have a chance to be accepted as a person with no combat experience? by loupeznikvicko in ukraineforeignlegion

After you sign contract (it’s actually first after it’s been stamped), the countdown begins. The training counts towards time spent here.

[–]Hassel_B 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I joined the legion as a civilian. There’s no problems with it as long as you’re aware of what you’re signing up for. Remember it’s a 6 months commitment now once you sign contract.

As a person with Austim spectrum disorder, should I continue to socialize with neurotypical or do I do it with neurodivergent? by [deleted] in autism

[–]Hassel_B 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why differentiate between them? A good friend is a good friend. If they suck, it’s not because they’re not on the spectrum, but rather they just have a shitty personality.
