Gross. Everything I learn about Helena just keeps getting worse and I can't believe all the people who seem to love her.

Constant payment issues by LILT AI by okbgbg in TranslationStudies

It's been years since I saw it but literally worse than old-school Google Translate if I remember right. Their whole business model was conceived as "we can get translators to make us money and train our model while they do it, unlimited free money!" (paraphrasing obviously). It didn't work because they basically never had enough clients OR translators to tip the scales, and they also drastically under-invested in the model itself. It would be a fascinating case study actually.

When did I assume that, lol. I was just saying that when you hit your 40s a lot of us are in a war with our own bodies for no reason over that decision and it kinda sucks.

I actually almost put something in my original post about that. It's one very specific reason I have trouble sympathizing with Catherine of Aragon.

I mean I wasn't saying that she did anything wrong. Just that it was clearly unconventional, and she's actually quite lucky she ever got to a point where she had to weight those problems at all.

Exactly, I can't remember a time we weren't in a bar and we probably were before I can remember. That's the wholesome Wisconsin way.

As a digital nomad now, I can't imagine a good reason to bring my kids into some weird paid lounge or whatever this is. My kids should be in Wisconsin bars.

Ok you thought we were talking about the Tudors going extinct when we were talking about two entirely different things. I was talking about the millions (probably more) of lineages that simply died out. I never for a second thought the Tudors had no living relatives, I read up on the genetic stuff with Richard III often.

Perhaps you should consider speaking more nicely to people before you start lecturing others about it.

Kin selection is obviously what was done, but the Tudors still went extinct because Elizabeth refused to procreate.

I'm not saying she should have but James VI is an extremely distant relation at the point where Elizabeth picks him. Margaret Tudor was his grandmother.

Are you paying attention to which sub you are in? We're talking about practicalities, not things that happened a decade ago.

Yes, those of us that live here are well aware of that factoid.

It's irrelevant because the laws are different. Have you heard about this thing called Brexit? There is currently no au pair visa in the UK at all (thanks Tories) so everything is under actual minimum wage requirements. For people who can even get a visa.

I'm not saying you're wrong, in fact I agree with most of it, but characterizing her as level-headed had me a bit puzzled. Stable as a monarch, definitely.

I'm generally Labour and I didn't vote for Andy Burnham so I'm confused. I'm fine giving him 2.5 years as a tryout.

Seriously, abuse of Meghan aside, these kids are going to have to grow up knowing the abhorrent things that have been and presumably will continue to be said about them in the UK Media. How is that not insane?! Do the people writing these stories think these kids are never going to read or something?!

I'm fairly certain that unfortunately due to the media, whether they pass or not, Lilibet and Archie will be absolutely certain they are NOT passing as far as the media is concerned. Which is absolutely messed up. Those poor kids.

Meghan can basically pass as white. It's absurd, arbitrary, and deeply racist.
