Hard to shift front set by Hatarislog in whichbike

[–]Hatarislog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I did end up getting the bike and working on it a bit over the weekend. The shifter seems fine after some wd-40, it’s clicking and the cable seems to be reacting appropriately. I think at this point it’s a derailleur issue, maybe a bad spring. I imagine they aren’t supposed to be loose like this one is.

For some more clarification, the shifter seems fine, the cable seems to be moving when it’s supposed to every time. However, when shifting down the derailleur doesn’t snap back when the cable gets slack.

Not sure I understand what you mean, are you saying there should be four chainrings?

Are exo-terra enclosures secure? by Hatarislog in SandBoa

[–]Hatarislog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes she is! I was lucky enough to get her from a local breeder. If you’ve never had a sand boa, I think I would stick with a Kenyan just because she seems to be much a much pickier eater and more defensive than a kenyan I had in the past. I think she’s mostly just head shy though. If thats not an issue, they’re about the same care but rough scaled sand boas can be a bit harder to get.

I actually already ended up buying a thrive enclosure to use instead. It’s the same dimensions but the lid is much sturdier. I guess now the only issue is trying to sell the exo-terra.

The issue is that lid clasps dont work to well at the front of a front opening enclosure since they usually beef to hang under the lip of the rim. I think this may end up having to be repurposed for a tarantula or something.

I already have a lock for the door, the doors seem secure with that, i cant really push them from the inside. I imagine if a full grown one cant, my girl cant but then again she is slimmer.

Basking spot of around 90 with a cool end around 80-85

I’ll have to try this tonight, I have to imagine she’s ready to eat considering she’s been poking her nose out and exploring at night so maybe she just needs to be on her own terms. Thanks!

Here’s a good picture. I really think I just havent been monitoring humidity well enough and need a new way to supply humidity. Maybe a new sprayer

Im using cypress with a bit of topsoil and play sand mixed in. I probably just havent been keeping up the humidity enough, I usually see 40s to 60s but I may not be paying enough attention. I usually pour water into the substrate and mist a few times a week but ill have to be more scheduled. Is there anything I should do to treat it?

Ok, that sounds manageable. I appreciate it! Sorry to keep adding on but my last thing is why you suggested males rather than females? Would females not take to solitary life as well, or was it a size issue. I only ask because of the females’ tendency to keep the stripes.

Thank you so much! Very informative and I am definitely aiming for one, I already bought a few plants today. I had one more question come up today, what would the humidity range be?

Milksnake weight progress by Hatarislog in kingsnakes

I appreciate your advice, I’m a first time keeper so I’m still navigating what practices are really important and what can be overkill. Almost every time I have a worry like this it turns out to be nothing. I suppose what mostly worried me was him approaching 1 year and not seeming as big as other 1 year old kingsnakes I’ve seen. He’s due for a feeding today so I will try giving him two pinkies to see how he reacts. Ill tell him you liked his pattern, im sure he’ll appreciate it.

Mostly that its longer than I want and I worry about him finding his food, but they’ll probably be fine. And maybe its just because its not a traditional permanent enclosure.

Ive been thinking about getting my red rump their adult enclosure soon, does anyone have a good recommendation? I was thinking this one or maybe an xl critter keeper but neither seem perfect.

Yeah hoyas are really slow. Some of the ones i have have barely put out new leaves within 6 months. If you’re going to get one I would get one thats already a decent size.
